Nakamura's hyper blog

About my life and my hyper grind for 2014
Send PM

Well I still haven't been working as much as I could lately. I attended the Sinulog festival here over the weekend, including the procession where they carry Sto. Nino, a statue of Jesus. Normally foreigners don't participate in this ceremony, so I had a lot of pictures taken of the white guy carrying Jesus.

Before you start to wonder, I'm not religious but the procession was actually a blast. There is much dancing, singing and celebration. A day later there is a huge parade through the streets of Cebu and millions of people pour onto the streets to watch. Two years in a row we got caught up in crushing crowds, but this year my girlfriend brought her kid with. So we went to somewhere a bit quieter where we could get to the front without her getting crushed.

Work-wise, things aren't exactly going perfectly. I started out running pretty poorly at the $7s. After 1000 games, I had some expenses due and needed to trade in some points for the $600 bonus. This isn't the most efficient thing to do as you only get $0.015 for each point instead of $0.016 if you wait until you have 100 000 points. Anyway it was this or trade in some BTCs.

I also moved down to the $3.50 games for a few days because the bankroll was dangerously low. I can't stress enough how it's vitally important not to go busto. So many good players feel like they have an edge and have ego issues with moving down the stakes. They eventually go busto if they practice habits like this and end up borrowing money or in the pile of has-beens. Don't be one of them. Protect your roll. Period.

I have quite a large edge in the $3.50 because, frankly, many people are a little retarded. They play very poorly and make huge mistakes. Atm, my EV is around 10% over a decent sample size.

Honestly yesterday I was a little unfocussed and made a number of what I would term "bad mistakes". I hope to get a few hours in today, but it's the girl's Birthday so I probably won't get that much done.

In the next blog we will take a look at more graphs and I will share some hands and tips to up your win-rates, particularly in the later stages.
