Bankroll Challenge $1-$5k - Week 35

By: feno27 @ 07:33 (EDT) / 1 / Comment ( 2 )

Hey everyone, Karl here with another bi weekly update on the Bankroll Challenge so far. So to sum up the last two weeks in two words would be “Run Bad” yes guys unfortunately we have incurred some really run bad streaks over the last couple of weeks. I am quite happy with my overall game though, I played strong and got the money in when I should have done, it was just unfortunate to be on the back of some bad beats.

So below I have provided an example of the kind of run bad we have been experiencing and the volume of bad beats and when we have been sucked out on, please see below: -

So this was in the $1.10 Saturday Special:

UTG: 15.44 BB (VPIP: 25.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 4)
UTG+1: 45.79 BB (VPIP: 3.70, PFR: 3.70, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 27)
MP: 7.91 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
MP+1: 6.58 BB (VPIP: 70.37, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 27)
MP+2: 19.89 BB (VPIP: 37.50, PFR: 12.50, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 16)
CO: 17.26 BB (VPIP: 37.04, PFR: 14.81, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 27)
Hero (BTN): 24.65 BB
SB: 5.19 BB (VPIP: 28.57, PFR: 7.14, 3Bet Preflop: 0.00, Hands: 14)
BB: 13.08 BB (VPIP: 14.81, PFR: 7.41, 3Bet Preflop: 16.67, Hands: 27)

9 players post ante of 0.12 BB, SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 2.58 BB) Hero has Th, Ts
fold, UTG+1 raises to 2.25 BB, fold, fold, fold, fold, Hero calls 2.25 BB, fold, BB calls 1.25 BB

Flop : (8.33 BB, 3 players) Td, 8h, 6c
BB checks, UTG+1 bets 3.42 BB, Hero calls 3.42 BB, fold

Turn : (15.18 BB, 2 players) Ac
UTG+1 bets 5 BB, Hero calls 5 BB

River : (25.18 BB, 2 players) Js
UTG+1 bets 15 BB, Hero calls 13.86 BB and is all-in

UTG+1 shows Qh, Kh (Straight, Ace High)
Hero shows Th, Ts (Three of a Kind, Tens)

UTG+1 wins 52.9 BB

So as you can see I think we got it in as we should of and hit the flop hard with the set, my thought process was to slow play the pocket Ten’s once we made the set on the flop as I wanted max value and knew that this guy (UTG+1) was going to lead the betting, therefore I was just going to call down his bets, then all in shove if he decided to check back. This is the only problem with slow playing. Above is a prime example what can happen even after having a massive (Pre 54%, Flop 93%, Turn 91%) percentage of winning the hand opposed to the Villain’s (Pre 46%, Flop 7%, Turn 9%)

When the Jc came in on the river, yes I could have folded, however I already had just over half my stack in the pot and felt committed, also I had reads on this guy and this specific betting structure I had his range between 77 – 99, JT, JQ, QT, KT, KJ, Ax up to AJ o/s. The villain also had an all in shoving range of JJ and better, KQ, AQ, AK. But obviously my reads were wrong and he hit his nut straight on the river (God Damn)

So my look pretty much followed the above throughout the two weeks, rarely making the money and busting just before the bubble the majority of the time. So please see below which is what my current bankroll looks like

So I have a $70.74c deficit from this time two weeks ago, one of the biggest downswings I have experienced in a long time, I was also streaming throughout this period also, so maybe it was due to my full concentration not been on the tables? however like I said I don’t want to make excuses for myself, because I honestly thought that my overall game was solid, just very unlucky.

So I played roughly about 120 plus $1 MTT/SNG’s over the two weeks and will be looking at doing the same over this coming two weeks (Obviously with better results) I am still going to continue with the $1 Buy ins as my bankroll can still sustain these stakes with my 200 BI in mind.

This is sole destroying, as I was just on the verge of moving up stakes again to $1.50 as I was only $20.45c off, but this has only made me more motivated to turn things around, I am putting it down to bad beats and been unlucky. It happened, it’s passed and now to move on and do something about it.

So again guy’s thanks for taking the time out and checking out my blog, hopefully we hit some run good to make up for the bad beats we have been receiving so until next time, take care, much love and all the best of luck at the tables.

Cya

Many Thanks.

Regards,
