COMMUNITY NEWS - August 2013

By: flophitter @ 12:31 (EDT) / 279 / Comment ( 0 )

A hot and summery (unless you're in the southern hemisphere, in which case make that 'a cold and shivery') "Howdy!" to all.

Here we are again with the latest monthly Community News where we showcase the top PSO promos and training events in the coming action-packed weeks. Much of the planet is in holiday mode at this time of year, but here at PSO we never ever stop so let's review the highlights this month:

This is our August tournament series being held in the PSO Community Club homegame and wait, it's already started and runs until the 11th, so whether you're a real or play money player check out the schedule and prizes! There's also a 'I knocked out a PSO Team Member' blog contest and entries need to be in by end of day 5th August, so you need to be quick. All the details are here!

If you like your table action fast and furious then the newly-launched Zoom tourneys are for you! Like their cash game namesakes, once you fold your cards there's no waiting; you're immediately dealt a new hand at a fresh table!

We decided to celebrate ZOOM tournaments with you by offering some specialised training and a mega-tournament where you can win fabulous cash prizes! Visit the promo page now to claim your 'ACCELERATE' satellite ticket, register for the special training on Aug 7th and all the info you need to make the most of ACCELERATE!

Hmm, thought I heard whispers in the corridors here at PSO Towers. It sounded a bit like that cosy huddle of movers and shakers over in the corner were having hushed discussions of a World Championship of Online Poker promo coming along shortly... and what do you know? Already our dedicated Live Trainer team are gearing up for WCOOP, read on...

Excitement is in the air at PokerStars and PSO in August, and that includes Live Training! We will be having special WCOOP promotional ticket trainings (Details will be in the forum under news, with a discussion thread in the PSO Support forum for questions).
These trainings will run twice a week, at various times each week, and will be focused on general MTT and satellite strategy.

As featured above, the PSO Tournament Series in August is the Dog Days of Summer Series, and trainers may be hosting and featuring some of these events during their live trainings the first half of the month as well. Here’s what’s on the Live Training blackboard for this month:

PS Team Online Pro Tyler “frosty012” Frost will be with us on Sunday the 4th and 18th at 14ET… in the early session Tyler will be covering HUD usage for full ring cash game, with the latter being a regular full ring coaching session!

Andy will be hosting the Sunday Special on the 4th, and one of the special WCOOP sessions on the 5th. He’ll be taking some time off for the rest of the month, planning to return to the regular schedule in September.

Chris will be continuing his coaching in the small stakes multi-table tournaments, both of the 180-man variety and larger field events, with his primary time slot being Tuesdays at 16ET. He’ll also be hosting some of the special WCOOP sessions.  Chris will host the PSO Dog Days of Summer Series Main Event for his Sunday Special on the 11th.

Gareth will be off the first half of the month doing reporting for PokerStars… he’ll return to Live Training in the latter half of the month to run his usual 6-max cash game coaching along with some MTT related material for the WCOOP.

Dave will be running MTT reviews in August from large field MTT’s for his WCOOP specials since the WCOOP are all large field events.  He will also be featuring more Pot Limit Omaha content by reviewing a deep run he had in one of the PSO Series of Poker PLO events in June. And he will follow up last month’s Fixed Limit Hold’em Week special presentation with 2 play of hands review sessions in FLHE cash games, one from 1c/2c and one from 25c/50c. Dave hosts the Sunday Special on the 25th with another Home Games edition.

Flix will be doing another zoom session and a coaching session, and will be doing some MTT coaching for WCOOP as well. He’s hosting the Sunday Special on the 18th!

For more information visit the Live Training section of the PSO web site today! Remember, there is no cost to attend these trainings, they are all free, brought to you by PSO and PokerStars…  and anyone can attend all live trainings, even the VPP restricted ones will allow all PSO members into the room as a viewer… the VPP restriction only impacts the ability to type in the chat box but all members can see and hear everything regardless of their VPP level.

So as you can see, while much the world enjoys the sun, the sea and the sand, we PSO-ers do all that AND pack in our passion for poker too! Until next month, all the best in class and at the tables!
