How my January has gone

By: gtwi @ 08:59 (EST) / 284 / Comment ( 0 )

In my last blog, I noted that I was a bit concerned about the new Coin/Steps system for this year and that I knew that if I was going to have a chance to keep my Chrome position, I would have to play more Cash and Zoom games.  Not only that, but to play at a higher level than I've played before which is the $.05/.10 level.

My experience so far playing the other 2 lower levels was one that never made me feel that comfortable as I came across too many players that often jammed you pre-flop and would over bet you post flop just to get you to fold.

After playing the $.05/.10 level now for slightly over half a month, the other 2 levels reminds me of trying to play the PSO Open Skill league games.  Too many players playing All-in poker on every hand and not bothering with any skills.  Not my style of poker.

Now playing Zoom games at this new level for me has turned out to be simpler than I expected it to have been.  I'm not a great player, but I am and can be a very good player at times, when my head is in the game.  However, I did not go into these games with out having some ideal of what to expect.  I have watched enough games and listened to Felix (xflixx) to have some ideal.

But even with this, my first days was a struggle to get use to the levels of bets.  Knowing I couldn't be timid about it, I got in the game.  It didn't take me long to become comfortable playing and with a few wins as well as losses, I was totally ingross in the game.

My 1st couple of days I ended up on the lossing side for my bankroll, but it wasn't much of a dip and by the middle of the month, I actually had (still) a profit.  Not huge, but roughly around $25.  I would like to say that it was so easy to do this as some players seemed to be more than happy to through their money.

Now one of my biggest worries was with the new Star Coin/ Steps program.  I was worried that I may not be able to complete all the steps within the month.  For a Chrome player, the steps are: 45,45,45,45 & 70 for 250.  I've already completed this and the rest of this month is just to go for my years total.

So, I hope you like this blog.
