How my Game is Improving

This is about how I am improving my game or hope I am

Well, I've been trying to think what I should write in this month's blog or just not write one.  Should I write about how well I've been doing or should I write about my bad games?  Or, should I just write about something different?

I decided that I'm going to do all of the above.  So get ready, have your coffee or tea next to you, and here it goes.

One of the things that I realized was that you just have to be mentally ready and prepared to play this game.  If you are not, then you are not going to do well or enjoy the game.  This happened to me early in the month of June when I was working alot more night shifts than I normally do, and this left me extremely tired.  With the PSOP games starting at NOON time and getting off work at 7am, this did not give me very much sleep. So, by the time the Sunday Storm would come around, I was dead tired.  I was looking forward to it after my good finish the month before,  As I got into the game, things just were not going my way.  I was getting decent cards, but I just could not do anything with them.  I use to a certian amount of aggression during these games but I was surprised that the table I was on, it seemed that the average opening pre-flop bet size was roughly 50 - 100% of the persons stack.  For this level of game, I could not believe what I was seeing.  It really started with 1 player, and quickly half the table was doing the same thing.

I figured that it was early in the game and everyone was, as the saying goes. "Jockey around for position", and that things would settle down after awhile.  It never did.  I knew I had to wait for my chances and when I would get good cards I would have my chance to win some hands.  And I did.  It wasn't a good game for me as I struggled through out the game.  Even when I did get good hands, and putting in decent opening bets, 4 bb's, 5bb's, I was being countered with 20 and 50 bb's re-raises.  I had made it pass the closing of the registeration period, but I was getting frustrated at not being able to get much gain in the game.  I was short stack and knew that if I did not try and do something, I would not make it to the payout period.  I finally got what I was waiting for, a great hand.  I was dealt with a KK and I opened the betting by going all in.  At this point, I was about 10bb's so my bet would not be taking lightly.  1 player called and he had a off suited 9,4.  I was fist pumping at that point.  Sadly, my joy did not last long.  Flob gave him a 9 and turn gave him a 4.  I did not get a king or any pair on the table and I was out.  No worries as I had gotten into this game by an entery through a satty game.

I also had a ticket for the Big $11 game and that was a major disappointment for me.  It was only the 2nd time I've play the Big $11 and I have not done well in them.  This last time I was knocked out on the 1st hand.  Yes the 1st hand.  I was dealt (again) KK and I opened with a 5 bb bet.  2 players called and then a 3rd player jammed all in on me.  Once this player did that, the other two folded.  After some thinking, and part of that was that he was sitting on pocket Aces, I decided to call him.  The call at first seemed right.  He had Q 4 off suited.  My happieness quickly went away as the flop gave him 2 more queens.  That was all that player needed as the Turn and River gave me nothing.  Had to be the fastest out for me in a tourney.

That's the Down side of the month, now for the Up side.

I did not win any big tournaments but I did have a certain amount a success in SNG single table games as well as in multi table.  No big cash outs but enough to keep my bankroll even.  I also had a success rate in the 'Heads Up' games.  However, my biggest success was winning a Virtual Bracelet in one of the PSOP play money games.

Ok now for the 'Something Different'

For those that like to cook a healthy meal, try this:

GT'S Fillet of Sole Cooked in a Lemon/Wine Sauce

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Place Sole in large ungreased baking dish

In a small sauce pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter

Combine 1 tablespoon of lemon juice

2 tablespoons of Dry White Wine

1 teaspoons of Fresh Chopped Parsley

                  Dash of Salt and Pepper

When ingredients are combined, pour over fish and bake for 15 minutes or until the fillets are flakey.

Place fish upon a bed of mixed cooked rice.

In a clean sauce pan, Reheat containts from the baking dish and add 1/2 cup of Dry White Wine, along with the remaining juice of the lemon, and bring to a boil.

Stir in 2 Tablespoons of Arrowroot and stir until the sauce thickens.

Once thick, pour over the Fish and Rice.

Serve with a salad of your choice.
