My quest has started, but I’ve only 3 weeks to complete it and still keep my day job!

I’ve set aside a limited Bankroll of £100 to try to achieve a place at UKIPT London which is £770.

1st satellite
I played a £1.10 Rebuy entry satellite (4 entries Gtd) to a £55 satellite (where 2 entries Gtd) for the UKIPT Qualifier where there’s seat for every £770 ( 2 seats Gtd) of  buy ins.
It’s a turbo structure with 5 min blind increases and 60 minutes of late registration and rebuys remain for another 30 minutes after that.
I’ve played a few of these in the past, initially with some success, but lately none at all!!
It seems once you have a big stack after the 75 minute point all the small stacks and rebuys seem to be all-in every hand they play, due to the large blinds and high antes. So its so so easy to keep re-buying chasing a lucky break hoping for several double-ups, especially waiting for the 90 minute rebuy to end as the add on (equivalent to 2.5 x BB’s) can still put you in with a good chance of a good double up and chance to final table.

So I re-bought 6 times to achieve the last 23 (90 minute mark-end of re-buy with add-on) with 8 satellite tickets now on offer, but crashed out in 18th.
In any case, I lost several hands where I just got outdrawn; I guess it wasn’t my day

Hands I lost out were…with all-ins pre-flop on

AA vs  Q T  with Q7Q flop
TT vs 67 with 84x flop, 5 turn, x river
A9 vs A4 with 4 on turn
55 vs QJ with J on flop
JJ vs A6 with the legendary A on the river

Plus 2 other hands all-in, so I spent a total of £1.10 plus 6 rebuys of £1 and an add-on of £1 giving a total spend of £8.10

2nd Satellite
This was the same format turbo re-buy tourney as above but with as a £2.75 R (3 entries Gtd) to a £162 sat (with 2 packages Gtd) for the Live UKIPT

Memorable hands were
AQo vs Ah7h  - flop of 8h2cQh
88 vs 66 vs AA - flop contained a 6
AK  vs JJ – A on flop – yey  I WON one

I went out with 77 vs 99 all-in pre-flop and no improvement.

I only had to make 2 rebuys costing £2.50 each and took the add-on of £2.50, making a total spend of £10.25 and went out 16th with only top 5 getting places.

Not a good poker weekend as I’m not doing very well with these turbo rebuys, so next time I’ll try one of the freeze-out tourneys, as it may preserve and give better bankroll control with more games and fun for my £pound.
