if i register in a PSO 50$ freeroll and cant make it am i still registered and lose points?

well took down my first PSO tourny took my a few hours but i got it done after a few tries i just started placing in the money,so i think my game is getting better , but one thing that bothers me is the people who sit out they should be kicked if they are idle for too long because time and time again i see players sitting through the whole tourny and sometimes people tryna sit out at the final table
