More grinding, and better Bankroll management

By: karlito2k9 @ 15:18 (EDT) / 212 / Comment ( 1 )

So yesterday was a fiasco.  I spent hours grinding away on freerolls & micro stakes to make a small, tidy profit.  I can only assume the cashes that I got triggered the idiot in me, because I started playing cash games & Spin & Gos with higher stakes, thinking I was suddenly Phil Ivey or something.  Thankfully, I came out of the experience with a decent win, but this has definitely not been the norm in the past (the opposite is true).

Seeing other members document there own experience trying to build a bankroll has inspired me, and I want to start my own challenge and become a little more disciplined (and hopefully a better player as a result).

From this day forward, If I am going to play in a tournament, I will need to either use my existing FPP balance, or my bankroll should be at least 100 times the buy-in.  I will document my gains & losses here, and all the highs and lows along the way.

So far this evening...

$0.55 NL Hold'em, $1.5k Gtd: 2050/3817

Called a pre-flop shove holding pocket nines, and I never felt good about it.  Only have myself to blame for this one.  Only placed the minimum bet initially as well, since my position was lousy, so I have no idea why I called here.

School Pass Big Bang Satellite: 193/1274

Perhaps I was put off by the incident above, but things started to go downhill after this hand.  Strange how similar this is, apart from position, and except this time I chose not to call.  And of course the 9 appears on the flop.

Bronzestar+ VIP 10 FPP NLHE [Turbo, $250 Prize Pool]: 939/1731

I had KQ, with top pair post flop.  Got set mined by pocket sevens.  I like that play myself, so i can't grumble when it happens to me.

Weekly Round 2 Satellite: Hubbles NL Hold 'Em Freeroll: 1150/12361

Never really got going in this one.  When I was down to about  3 or 4 blinds, I shoved K10 or something like that and got beat.

I'll probably play a few freerolls later, but I dont feel like I'm playing well today.  I'm conspiring to lose on almost every pair or decent hand that I'm making at the minute
