Playing above your bank roll

The Single Table SNG Challenge

By: la;yton99 @ 06:42 (EST) / 477 / Comment ( 2 )
It has been a while. I've been busy was away on a course and the hotel I was staying at charged £10 a night for really slow net so I didn't even bother with it.

While I was away I had a few ideas. I quite often break even with my bankroll it goes up, it goes down, it really does go all around.

I have a run of all-in people against me or loose players. How can I take advantage of my 1st place then 2nd place then 3rd or bust games? This is what I came up with.

The bank building challenge I am setting myself is this:

My own personal ladder:
Using $11 which gives me 10 games to play at level 1.
I am going to move up a level after a first or second place finish, 3rd place finish keeps me at the same level and a bust moves me down to level 1. This is very important!

The only exception to this rule is level 1 and 4. Because 2nd place doesn't pay the buy-in for the next level. So I have to get 1st, (of course)  two 2nd places or a 2nd and a 3rd place at those levels. And of course I can't move further down than level 1.

 Single Table SNG
Level 1:  $1+20c  1st = $4.50 or combination of two 2nd or a 2nd and a 3rd
Level 2:  $3+40c  1st = $13.50. 2nd = $8.10 (I couldn't find any $2+40c games when I was looking)
Level 3:  $5+50c  1st = $22.50. 2nd = $13.50
Level 4:  $10+$1  1st = $45.00. or a combination.
Level 5:  $30+$3  1st = $135.00. 2nd = $81.00

This is quite a big increase if I am lucky and I get to level 5 with no mishaps I will be $15 up even with the $33 buy-in for the final level. If I have mishaps (which I will) and get busted down to level 1 my profits are going to be higher when I get there. Provided I can beat the level 1 games within the £11 I have set myself.

The only problems I see are that the $30+3 dollar games seem to fill up slowly and the $50+5 games fill up faster.

Level 1 is going to be the first hurdle and as people in general play pretty bad at this level.  Some players are really good but don't have the bankroll to move up. They are the players I don't want to play against!

If anyone else would like to give this a go then give me an update on how you go along I will post on it as I go. Day 1 will be at the end of today.
