Another day, and more of what's on the board

By: markegg @ 00:57 (EST) / 58 / Comment ( 0 )

Greetings

It's 14/12/2012 and I've had another 2am wakeup..

The 2am freeroll was over in about 60 hands, here's a quick review of the hands of any interest:

Another BB special...awful play in review....

Playing the AK:

Not sure what I was doing!

Playing the AK, know I am behind, I make a bad mistake!

Few hands later and push an Ace rag....another mistake and I am grrr'ing at myself:

The 2am Open Poker League went even worse and was out in 40hands with absolute rubbish....nothing even worth posting up.

Clearly still a little dizzy and not woken up yet....lets hope things improve for the rest of the day.

On a side note: yesterday I was ranked over 60k in the open league, today, I started at 9983, and have, because of the 2am today, just dropped to 10061.....going to try and push up into the top 10k...

entered into the 6am Open League no hands of any interst to update with, got no respect, pushed around and out in less than 20 hands...must be more patient....too aggresive too.

...

It's seemingly going from bad to worse....went out of the 9am freeroll in donkish fashion...nothing to see here

...

Now in the 10am Open League....have managed a few hands, but played some stinkers too...

and the 89% vpip donk catches a boat on the river, just as I catch my flush on the river....ohhh how often can this happen?

And....another rivering...

Sneaked into the 9pm Freeroll (I did make the 9pm EPT Freeroll aswell but out with AK)

The 9pm freeroll so far:

absolutely awful hand, played it like bingo night and just got ohh so lucky...1 to me for the runner runner rivering

yeah baby! not entirely sure on my reasons for the call, I think the multiway pot and....suited connectors, I got a bit Call happy...but heyho! you win some you lose some.

I think I like this play: Comments Welcomed

So my thoughts on the hand above. I put in a decent preflop raise to all the min raisers, try and weed out the marginal hands....

Post flop, I am worried by the A but, having just been called preflop, I had the two stacks left on medium pairs. 1k bet is to see if anyone hit that A, I lose the big stack which is now leaving me a great spot, I think. I am still worried by the A, but the 7k stack just calls, I am now reading on a mid pair that hasn't hit, and he's not caught the A. I bet into it again 1k, pretty confident I am ahead still. When he re-raises me but not all in, I am now confident he hasn't hit, that stack, that position, he's hit anything or has better he would have shoved, so I do the honours and yip, my cowboys are good (had the stack been bigger and that small raiser would have looked a LOT stronger, I just read it as weak along with the previous checks and calls) ....I would like any comments and thoughts, this is one of a few hands I did actually think about what I was doing and hopefully played it pretty well.

Into paid spots now, woow, lets see if we can make the final few!

Cowboys get the job done preflop:

One of those, hoping you've got the best...I do....

Ok so the preflop raise is a change from my norm x2 or x3 and in the middle kinda...

Flop top pair and the bet into the pot is probably too big...I should have been smaller, kept the pot from gettin too big...

Turn again, when I bet now it just looks small and having made a big post flop, to keep up appearance I make it even bigger...DUH! - hence the first bet was too big I think?! Pots gettin big and still worrying board....not thinking entirely through the hand when I played it.

The final check in my mind was for information, betting was probably suicide, all in was the only option and I wasn't confident I had the best of it with the board paired and any 9 crushing me. It's not played that well in review, but....at this stage....just gotta go with ya mind and your heart.

Tried to get the BB to shove it, but had none of it.

Raised an AJ, got a shove all in so folded....

Raised an AQ, got a shove all in so folded....

Raised a Q10o in the cutoff and stole some blinds....finally....last 650

Some button abuse:

I didn't want a re-raise over the top, hence the shove....risky, but as a short stack, it was in or check and that was weak...got all the chips I think I could...

Again, feeling short stacked, I make a play with middle pair, thinking the player I am up against is bored an wanting to bleed chips. I am very wrong, catch a lucky turn to cover my weak position and luckily - the river doesn't hit his flush....poor play as a short stack and well, much still to be learned! Clearly!

Using position on the big stack, steal some chips.

Probably a good fold:

I wanted to go firing, but....hit nothing and ... heart said fire, head said check and, think I got away relatively lightly...got no info booo - I spoke to the player in the break and he told me he had 5 and 8 so it was a good lay down and I lost the minimum really....thanks to the player for sharin his info, it is very much appreciated, he didn't have too.

The break is over and into the final 250 with around 40k which is about 8bb (3k/6k as I type so it's just got less, gonna have to make some plays...)

shoved a SB and picked up the BB and the antes - still a short stack at 40k - in the final 200 now, but nothing to really play with....folded a couple of A rags, one Ah7h in a early position, maybe should shoved, but felt fold and stay in.

Just folded a Q3 in the BB, only a min raise, but....where's a Q3 going...might hit a premuim, else we probably gettin killed by the blinds and antes, but hey ho, have played some good poker and some bad, got this far and in a Friday night freeroll top 200 is pretty good.

Shoved our Ah 6h, here's hoping....

Runner runner to Ace high flush but we were in the lead anyway. Some chips to play with again....

Ack, a table move just as we were getting friendly and learning some of the players....tighty tighty for the openers I think...

Played 9c 3c in the BB and well, caught a 3 in the flop but the pair o 8's beat us in the end...

out in 130th, which is only $1.57 - but, I felt I played mostly, very well, folded when I should, wasn't too aggresive which has been a real downfall of mine. Played good I think.

Will step away for a break for a bit, and probably try the 2am - I fell asleep earlier so not feeling that tired, but it'll be a new day so....watch out for tomorrows blog!

In my little quest to improve on my rank, it's currently at 9605 - will see what tomorrow brings...weekends can be dreamy and creamy, or they can be hellish!

Thanks and have fun out there....it isn't always ALL bad.
