Developing an LAG style

By: passter @ 13:16 (EDT) / 275 / Comment ( 1 )

Everyday I get more and more used to my LAG poker style as I'm starting to get more comfortable with it. It's still a work in progress. The reason why I want to develop this kind of a style, is because I don't want people to think that I'm a one-dimensional player who only plays a small ball poker or a TAG style. As well, I've been reading poker articles about to how play against a LAG opponent. In poker when you're unsure what to do, you have to listen to what your visceral gut tells you. I just have to trust it more. Moreover, I also have to analyze the board texture carefully, blind steal when the chance presents itself, be aggressive when I have the dealer button, not rush my decisions, be aggressive against a loose aggressive player when I have a strong hand/holding in position/on dealer button, trust my reads, do more blind defending and float (call with nothing on the flop and re-evaluate the situation on the turn) occasionally on the flop, and analyze my opponents betting pattern carefully. At times, I feel like I'm just not playing to the best of my abilities and can play way better. As long as I don't rush my decisions, I'll be fine. My poker playing style involves always putting pressure on my opponents. When I smell weakness, I make a tough call, raise, re-raise or go-all in. I force my opponents to play for their entire stack by putting them to tough decisions. I either make the final table or I'm out early. Simple as that. With that being said, I think that's important to figure out who you can push around and who you have to trap. That, in my opinion, is what a good LAG player should be able to do.
