My Best Moment on Pokerstars

By: joy7108 @ 23:10 (EST) / 746 / Comment ( 6 )

I truly believe that my best moment on Pokerstars is still in the future, but I've had some pretty good moments so far.

There was the day that I won the Women's $5.50 League, by only 1 point.  That was my single most profitable moment, since I won $500 and a ticket to the Women's Sunday worth $55.

There was the first time I ran deep in the old PSO league, and met Moxie Pip, who railed me to the end even though he didn't know me.  His encouragement made me realize that there were people in the community who were willing to help newbies like me to learn to play a better game.

There was the first time I ran really deep in the Big $2.20, I was such a newb that when I got really tired I went all in instead of sitting out.  I finished fifth, but probably could have gotten at least third if I had sat out (3:30am my time and I was exhausted).

There was the time that I finished 10th in the .10 NAPL, I still miss that league.  It was cancelled without warning about a week before black Friday, was that a coincidence??  I think that was also the first time I blogged, I was very proud of my win and wanted to give PSO credit for helping me improve my game.

There was the time that PS announced home games, and I was invited to join some of them.  I got to know lots of great poker players, and that helped improve my game even more.  Many of those players are still helping me improve my game today.

There was the discovery of investment groups, where a group of peeps got together and pooled their money so that even not so good players could make some money on "horses" who were willing to  play for the profit of the group.  I am very proud to be involved with an investment group, and encourage others to try this method of making money.

There have been quite a few great moments so far, but I think the day that I realized that Poker School Online was free has to be the best.  I had discovered a few poker schools before this, but all of them wanted some of my hard earned money.  I had seen the link for PSO, but thought that I couldn't afford it.  After all I was playing .02 turbo tourneys for pennies, no way could I afford to pay a poker school to learn.  Then I learned that PSO was free, and I thought, well, even if it's not very good it's better than nothing, so I joined.  I kind of lurked around the forums for a while, scared to get involved but learning from all I read.  Eventually I started replying to threads and being more active in the forums.

I was very surprised to find that it was a whole lot better than nothing, there is a ton of resources to help you improve your game.   There are great trainers who give classes on all aspects of the game, there are videos from PS pros, there is a great forum to talk to others with the same interests, and lots of lively discussions on all aspects of the game.  There are the school leagues to help you build a BR, and much more.

On top of all that, there are the people that you meet through PSO, some of the best peeps you could wish to meet.  Many of them give generously of their knowledge and constantly try to help new players to be the best they can be.  Kudos to all of the trainers and hand analyzers of PSO, you peeps deserve a medal for all you do to help players like me to improve.

So when all is said and done, I have to say that my best PS moment has to be discovering PSO, wins are fleeting but PSO will be a part of my life as long as I am involved in poker.  The peeps I have gotten to know have enriched my poker experience so much, I'm sure that without all the encouragement I have received that I would have long since lost interest and gone on to something else.

And last but not least, thanks to all the peeps in the Tank, you folks are the best!!
