Delusions of Grandeur: My Journey to Pokerstardom

Is anyone else in need of a turbo course?

By: psych_nerd22 @ 16:44 (EST) / 522 / Comment ( 0 )

I try to stay away from turbo tournaments.  And by 'try', I mean that I avoid them at all costs. There is a longstanding hate-hate relationship between us. I become enticed by the set up, the speed, and the potential winnings. I enter a tournament, hopeful and excited for the future.....then bust out early (like, embarrasingly early), get angry, and remove them from my filter so I don't even have to look at them on my screen (I feel they're taunting me). After some time has passed, I rethink my actions and put then back on my filter. Then, after my emotional healing has been completed, I decide to enter a turbo tournament, hopeful and excited for the future...

Today was one of those days where I decided to try and play a turbo. And for the life of me, I just can't get past the first few levels. It seems like the strategy is just to go all in whenever you have a decent hand. However, I get blinded down while waiting for a good hand, and then get busted by a larger stack. Every time. Today, I literally (pronounced like Rob Lowe's character on Parks and Rec:

) did not play a hand for the first three levels, then went all in with AJ  and got beat by KK. I'm sure there is a smarter way to play turbo's, but I guess I'm just not very good at being hyper aggressive. Any tips?

I played a SNG afterwards and finished 3rd, so I feel much better now. However, it'll still be awhile before I let turbos show up on my screen again...
