PSO skill league win!

By: rivermenow @ 19:56 (EST) / 222 / Comment ( 0 )
I just managed to take down the 3:00 p.m. EST PSO Skill League.

I made it through 1117 players and played a very exciting final table with MCAR2800, mabbrm4e, SKY PEOPLE, Paulmcoxford, orchidherder, flush3964, luckycharmy, and TR1PP1N ACES.  I came into the FT second in chips.

I did have a fortunate run of cards and that certainly helped, but I think I played very aggressive and made my opponents make big decisions for their chips.

At one point I had KK and flopped top set vs. Paulmcoxford.  I had raised in the hijack and he called after limping.  The flop was K 7 4 w/ two hearts.  I made a 40k bet and he called.  The 5 of hearts peeled on the turn, and I checked behind.  The 5 of clubs came on the river, I bet 35k after he checked to me, and he checkraised to 105k.  I figured he had turned a flush and would call a shove so I pushed all in, having him covered, but he made a good laydown.  He told me he had flopped two pair, so I said "be glad you didn't fill up".

The very next hand I was dealt AA and threebet TR1PP1N's raise.  He called and the flop was JJQ.  I bet him the rest of his chips and he hesitated but called w/ TT.  No help came and he was out in 8th.

2 hands later I got AK suited in the SB and made a raise.  Luckycharmy called and the flop was AQ8 rainbow.  He bet into me and I raised him the rest of his chips minus 1000 (I forgot to carry a one, and i'm a math teacher!) and he called.  The K came on the turn and he bet his last 1k and I called.  He was drawing dead with A4 and he was out in 7th.

The next person I busted was Orchidherder.  I was fortunate and was dealt QQ in the SB.  I raised him all in and he called with TT.  No help came for him and he was out in 6th.

I forget Paulmcoxford's bustout hand but I don't think I was involved.

We ended up playing 4 handed for a long time.  I was in 2nd most of the time, swapping the chip lead with mabbrm4e.  Both SKY PEOPLE and MCAR2800 were not too far behind.

After battling for some time, I found myself in 2nd place behind mabbrm4e.  He had threebet me off of a couple of hands both preflop and post flop.  I then was dealt JJ under the gun.  I opened for 90k and he threebet the minimum to 150k.  I called and the flop came T98 rainbow.  I bet 60k and he raised to 180k.  I paused to consider the chances of him having me beat.  I read him for having two overcards so I decided to call and see the turn and go from there.  The turn was a 5 and I moved all in for 227k.  He called fairly quickly which made me go "damn", but he turned over KJ to my surprise.  The river bricked and I doubled up to 900k.

The penultimate hand came with me having the chip lead.  I was dealt 88 in the BB and mabbrm4e limped in for 20k, MCAR2800 limped as well, and SKY PEOPLE shoved for just under 200k.  I decided to call, as did mabbrm4e.  MCAR2800 folded.

The flop was 3-3-2.  I check to mabbrm4e and he moved all in for 400k.  I decided to quickly call, having seen this play before I felt I was ahead of his range.  SKY PEOPLE had AT and mabbrm4e had A2.  The turn was a 4 and the river a 6, and I took in a pot to bring me up to 1.36M.

Entering heads up I had 1.36M to MCAR2800's 70k.  He doubled up w/ 88 vs. my KQ, but three hands later we got it all in with me shoving with K6 and him calling with 87.  The board ran out 3 6 8 K Q and I won!

Even though the winning prize was certainly a small one, I am eager to see how many points I will gain on my ranking for winning the tournament.  It is only my 2nd mtt win, and certainly not my biggest cash win, but still always nice to take one down.
