GrindHeaps Wins One Million!

By: royalraise85 @ 05:31 (EST) / 1475 / Comment ( 5 )

The sun is  shining on a very festive season down under for one poker player, with a new millionaire made on PokerStars Spin & Go’s mere hours ago. The Australian player ‘GrindHeaps’ became the latest millionaire on PokerStars. This is the eighth millionaire made in the last two months, and the thirteenth this year.  PokerStars famously made six millionaires in a week in late October, and while the special promotion to celebrate the 1-year anniversary of Spin & Go’s has concluded, the $100 Spin & Go’s are continuing to award a maximum prize of $1 million on an on-going basis.

The $100 buy-in Spin & Go tournament (Tournament #1,409,622,460) started at 7.00 PM Australian Eastern Summer Time on 14 December (3.00 AM US Eastern Time, 8.00 AM GMT) and concluded at 7.10 PM, making a new millionaire after just ten minutes of poker play – the second-fastest ever Million Dollar Spin & Go.  The fastest victory was the previous millionaire ‘Koovoon’ who won $1 Million in 9 minutes, and 38 seconds.  While ‘Koovoon’ won in a shorter time, ‘GrindHeaps’ won in a smaller number of poker hands – just thirty-three hands of poker decided who would be a millionaire.

The runner up was ‘gavonater’ from Ireland, who won $100,000. The third-place player was ‘EnglishGirl9’, a PokerSchoolOnline member,  from the United Kingdom, who also won $100,000.

‘GrindHeaps’ had been the chip leader continuously from the sixth hand of the tournament, doubling up with [Ac Qs] all-in preflop against the [Kd Jc] of ‘EnglishGirl9’.  The flop was [Jh Tc 5s] giving ‘EnglishGirl9’ top pair, but the board ran out [9h 8d] to make a straight for ‘GrindHeaps’.

Hand #33 was the final hand of the tournament, when ‘GrindHeaps’ limped from the big blind with [Jh Jc] and called the shove of ‘gavonater’ who held [3s 3d].  Both players made full houses on a board of [Ts Kh 2s Kd Kc] but the Jacks of ‘GrindHeaps’ took the million dollar prize.

The player avatar of 'GrindHeaps' is an organic cabbage.

Including this tournament, the following poker players have one million-dollar prizes in Spin & Go’s since the beginning of October:

•On 14 December, ‘GrindHeaps’ from Australia won $1 million from a $100 tournament.
•On 21 November, ‘Koovoon’ from Canada won $1 million from a $100 tournament in 9 minutes, and 38 seconds.
•On 28 October, ‘ifipushud325’ from Australia won $1 million from a $5 tournament.
•On 26 October, ‘handbt1’ from Germany won $1 million from a $5 tournament.
•On 26 October, ‘barrakuuda4’ from Estonia won $1 million from a $100 tournament.
•On 25 October, ’prophethicks’ from England won $1 million from a $5 tournament.
•On 22 October, ‘wrawras’ from Brazil won $1 million from a $100 tournament.
•On 21 October, ‘Samara Lúcio’ from Brazil won $1 million from a $5 tournament.

Spin & Go's are fast-paced, 3-Max Hyper Turbo tournaments which feature 500 chip starting stacks. Each tournament has a randomly drawn prize pool that will award between two and 10,000 times your buy-in. PokerStars offer Spin & Go's at seven different buy-in levels: $0.25, $1, $3, $7, $15, $30, $60 and $100.
