It's Rafa Against The World!

By: royalraise85 @ 10:54 (EDT) / 650 / Comment ( 4 )

PokerStars announced recently that world tennis number one, Rafa Nadal, will play poker against fans from around the globe in an exclusive ‘Rafa vs The World’ low-stakes play money Zoom 6-max ring game on the PokerStars Play Facebook App from 17.30-18.30 ET on Wednesday, March 19.

The one-hour, free-to-play game, will see Rafa take on a multitude of opponents at the fast-fold poker variant, Zoom, with world number one poker player and Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu at his side asking questions from viewers and offering live expert commentary on an exclusive video webcast of the game.

“One of the great things about playing poker is that there are so many opportunities to play against different people, especially in the online environment,” says Rafa. “I’m a competitive person, so obviously I want to win, but I think it will be great fun too.”

Rafa v The World

Not only will the game provide bragging rights to those who get to play a hand against Rafa, there will also be a tally running throughout the hour showing every hand he wins versus every hand he loses, bringing another level of competition to the game.

A prize will be donated on behalf of the winning side to Care International. This will be the second time that Nadal has invited fans to play poker against him online – the first was in February this year when well over a 1,000 Spanish players joined him at the tables for a game that was webcast live and got over 10,000 viewers.

Live video webcast display

Viewers at home will be able to watch Rafa playing live on the video webcast, which will be available on PokerStars.tv, on the PokerStars Facebook App, and the PokerStars YouTube channel. The webcast will feature split-screen technology to show Rafa’s online poker table on one side of the screen, and Daniel and Rafa on the other. During the game, Rafa will be taking questions from players on Twitter via the hashtag #AskRafa.

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu said: “Rafa’s poker knowledge and skill level has improved dramatically since he started learning the game. I’m looking forward to seeing if he can make this a hat-trick of wins, having already taken down the charity tournament at EPT Prague and beating players from across Spain.”
