Learning how to play poker

By: rrp{h3rtbkr} @ 05:53 (EDT) / 564 / Comment ( 2 )

hello guyz,i dont know how to start about it ,let me try ,i have been playing poker from last one year or so and when i evaluate my game some weeks earlier i came to know that ,i havent learn mutch about this beautiful game ,now i came to know that y i havent been making mutch profit from my game play ,what i have been missing ,whats my downplay and i have been playing the same way ,i played when i play for first time , so i never learn anything ,nor my gameplay improve  a bit .so i decided i will change about all this .

i have know a bit about pot odds, outs ,implied odds, equity ,ev etc but my main problem is i never applied them in my game ,i mostly played according to cards on the table ,if i hit big i will call ,if i miss i will fold , if i hit a big flop and my opponent showing strength ,i wont be able to judge  him or his play.i never observe mutch about bet sizing going around the play ,how mutch he his betting pre flop ,postflop etc. when i am not involving how other players are playing etc. i know mutch about tjis but while playing i just forgot about including them in my mental and i dont know what kind of play i had been doing from last one year and i too been successfull some time winning some ticket mostly strugling ..

enough all of this ,and so i have decided to study about poker and improve my game seruiously from now onwards, i have some winning around my belt from bankroll builder promotion and made it to around 15$ and right now m going to play correctly how u should play ,so m gonna learn each and every angle about poker ..

I dont have mutch money with , i have earlier tried .02c hyper turbo game and its mostly about luck to make some money there ,so i have decided to play 25c 45/90 man SNG and double up my bankroll, from there i will advanced to more stages .i also have some tickets with me like 1.50$ which i won from asia freeroll tourney and i have to play them as they would expired in one month ,hopefully i make some money from these it will be a great boost to my bankroll...

so my basic strategy would be

1. study dan harrington vol1 and vol 2

2. watch some training video from here ,space gravy sng videos

3. i will start with 10$ as main money to build my bankroll and learn poker along the way ,i will keep 5$ as spare .try to double up 10$ into 30$ by the year end. already played two sng while writing the blog so basically m having 9.50$ so basically i have 38 buy in to increase my bankroll from 10$ ..its very small ,but i am gonna try to do it or else m broke

4. play 25c 45/90 man SNG Mostly untill i double up my 10$

need ur valuable suggestion  tooo

and thanks to PSO for starting this amazing challenge , i never been into writing and i guess m writing doesnt suck as mutch my poker game sucks

good luck guyz!!!

hello again ,i played one tourney today 25c 90 man sng and this hand made my downfall

here is the link plz suggest me

http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/forum/showthread.php?68343-what-should-be-the-better-play-here&p=539089#post539089

and here is the hand

The progress i had been making till now

hello again
i watched the full series of video tutorial of sng from space gravy and i picked up very good things from it , especially what should be my hand range in differnt stage of blind level ,what should be the hand range to open with from different position and what should be ur raising range ,that was a great infromation for me .
earlier i used to be too tight playing only monster hand only and my raising was also not consistent enough and i remain tight throught the game as a result blinds ate me up mostly if i get double up before the blind level increase, i survive to mutch deeper level ,but my percentage of playing hands definately increases after watching the videos
i wondered in one game ,how mutch it improve my game as i am now playing according to way it has been asked to play SNG,it would be hard for me to remember all the hand ranges right away so i have make notes of them and i will have a look before playing them .i also started make play according to pot odds and out and i will add extra thing as the game devlops of mine
i note down the hand range and open two 25c 90 man table and played according how spacegravy mentioned there and i managed to stay deep  and cash in .. 4th and 11th respectively
i also note down throught the game ,i am pretty mutch suck in postflop play ,where somebody slow play there monster ,i was unable to get a read and i paid them off .
Improvement made
1. hand range when ur 10 blind or less
2.different blind level hand range
3.short stack hand range
4.bubble hand range and aggresive style
5.call according to pot odds and outs offered on the pot
Improvement required
1. postflop play
2.making tough decision
3.notes on different player style
current balance
started with 10$ actually 15$ bank balance but 5$ kept aside as backup
1.25c 90 man sng - lost
2.25c 90 man sng - lost
3.25c 90 man sng - lost
4.25c 90 man sng - 1.90$
5.25c 90 man sng - 0.46$
after 5 games - 0.25 * 5 = 1.25 invested
ROI - 10$ - 1.25$ + 2.36 =11.11
profit of 1.11$
so current balance is 11.11$
so far going good , if i continue improving my game i might able to achived my goals

here are some hands where i made some basic mistake

i guess i made the easy call here
in this tourney  i had some kind of dream run lossing most of my chips early left with 60 only and goes on to achive 4th in the tourney ,one of amazing comeback

i open the pot with 2.5x raise from middle position and the button called my raise and the flop came As 8d 5s ,flush draw on the flop and over card for me , i check the flop and button check backs ,i put him in some kind of flush draw and the flop came Jh , i check again and he bet and i called his bet , i played badly there should have fold or reraise him there ,the river came 6d and i check again and he bet half the pot and i called and he won the pot showing A5 ,he slow played his monster and i played badly postflop
how should be the better play here
Another intresting thing happen this evening i have been playing in Indian poker championship bankroll builder competition where top 23 player in leaderboard will get a share of some prize pool and i managed to sneak in 23 place and a got a boost of 5$ in my bankroll.. wow something nice just happened to me.
so now m having  11.11$ +5$=16.11$
