December, what a month!

By: simonrdr @ 11:55 (EST) / 208 / Comment ( 0 )

A little bit late for my review of December, but having two days off to start the year meant I decided to spend my time playing instead of writing the blog.

I had set some goals for the month so let's see how those goals went!

- 150 VPPs. I will go back to playing Fifty50s, at least for the first week of the month with the golden Sit and Gos, and re-evaluate after the week. Maybe I will try different SNGs, 6max did seem like fun, I might play a few.

That goal was met on the last day of the month, although the final day was no where near as hectic as November, since I only needed 5 VPP and had all evening to do so. The way I got there however wasn't like the way I planned. I got really fed up with Fifty50s after playing only two in the month, and started playing regular FR SnGs. What a great decision. I played 43 in the month and made a $20.43 profit, for a 31% ROI!

- Play at least 15000 cash game hands and have positive results.

It was a grind, but I made it barely. Il played 15029 hands and won 2.37bb/100. Not very good, but I felt it was going better as the month went on.

- Stay in the Premier League

That goal was met but once again not the way I planned. I did terribly in the Premier League, so mid-month I started playing the Qualifier Leagues. I did good enough to qualify, and did so with a positive ROI. I also almost won my first MTT, placing 2nd in a Qualifier League for my best cash to date, $15.07!

- Start a stake on the 6th (the day I will be allowed), playing 1.10 MTTs. It will probably be something like 25 or 30 tourneys, to be played in a month or a month and a half.

This one is under way. I've played 21 of the 30 events in my stake and am barely in the red. I do however feel like I'm playing solid, and sharing hands in my stake really helps me as I can get input on the hands I had trouble with.

My total winnings in December were $7.12 for cash games and $20.64 for tournaments, plus my first $10 stellar reward, for a total of $37.76 in the green for December!

Now, this being the 5th of January, I can't talk about my previous month without talking about the beginning of my New Year. What a start it has been. I started taking shots in bigger stakes ($3.50 SNG and 5NL Zoom), and it has been going unbelievable in 5NL. Just look at the results!

That is a nice 25.32 bb/100! What I do notice, I that in this run, my red line is going around 0 and not going down. If I take the graph of all my cash game hands, my results have almost always been positive when my red line (BB won without showdown) is not going down. I other words, I need to get them to fold in order to keep winning! In by brief sample of 5NL, it appears villains are respecting my raises and CBet a little more and folding to my bets more than in 2NL. Then again it is a very small sample size.

I'm not ready to set goals for 2014. For the moment my only goal is to keep building my Bankroll. I have more than doubled my roll since November ended, as I now sit at $142.62, which is great!

So in January I will be playing 5NL, 1.50 and 3.50 SNG, and 1.10 MTTs including the Qualifier Leagues, plus the Premier League of course.

Good luck at the tables and Happy New Year to everyone!
