OK, before I go on about strategies, it is time for you to ask yourself a question. And it is an important one. Why are you playing in this league? I find that there are only three real answers for that question. First: Are you here simply because it is free? Second: Are you here to try to improve your play? Third: Are you here to win some of that Pokerstars money?
If you are here simply because it is free, then you probably won't gain much success. It is not too hard to go all-in on any given hand when you haven't invested any of your own money into the tournament. You have nothing to lose. And although you could have limited success playing this freely with your hands, usually it will end in disaster. Eventually someone will have a better all-in hand or someone will just plain get good luck from the poker gods and catch the card they need to beat you.
If you are here to improve your game, then this is a good place to play. It is a free tournament league so again you invest nothing but your time. But with the donkeys and wildly aggressive players in this league, even following what the poker school teaches you will lead to bad beats and frustration. And again limited success in terms of Pokerstars money earned.
If you are here to win some of that Pokerstars money then you need to readjust your way of thinking about poker playing. Too many people get caught up in the notion that they need to try to win the tournament they are currently playing in and forget that this is a month long league and one tournament does not matter much in the grand scheme of things. Remember that there are 124 tourneys in the month of August. You need to make the most of each one that you are able to enter.
More to come.......
