so im doing really well , start the tourney playing almost every hand and lost 1/2 my stack. ended up winning a few and built it back up. later in the tourney pick up KK, raise and I get an all in and a reraise putting me all in. i call and get a nice triple up basically and am in really good position to take this home. keep winning and im in 2nd place for a while.

then blinds start getting big and my hands start to suck. had JQ once limped, only BB call. he had trip aces so lost some chips but no problem.

eventually im short stack with about 3k chips, 11 players left. Im waiting for my spot fold a couple of ok hands I could have shoved in hijack or dealer but im waiting for a good hand. Finally get AJ in the BB, and SB is a pretty big stack. I figure I'm going all in this hand so glad I have 2 good cards.

He puts me all in as suspected, I insta call. He turns over AQ to crush my spirits.
And the poker gods want to insult me even more by turning 2 queens over on the flop. Then to tease me more they throw a 10 on the turn to give me a gutshot. It never came.

So i bust out in in 11th place with the best hand I got in a while. I guess 1 guy was sitting out and ended up bubbling the cash spot, so I could have just folded and waiting for at least a pocket pair but I mean AJ in BB what are you gonna do?

This sounds a lot like a problem I had for a long time.
About mid way mark I would fall behind because I was waiting on the nuts.
Had a lot of min-cashes but never went much farther than that.

Its important to keep pace with the pack and open up against that one guy that is just lagging up the table.Dont ever be afraid to die in a tourney.

Just some words of advice, not sure if you need them but it kind of looks like you might.

+1, good advise.

Also, try to identify who the folders are at your tables, and give them more chances to fold.
