I just received this email from Tina, and as she requested am posting it.

Tina writes:

I am desperate to post the final dates in the forum and hate to keep
everyone waiting.
If you could be so kind could you post this update for me as I am literally
just off to bed. I was fully intending to announce something in September,
which would have given everyone plenty of time to arrange things.

Latest is that I got an email from Bill Hicks yesterday -
The meeting that was intended for last week was cancelled and then a new
meeting was set, this was also cancelled and
it seems it is now scheduled for Saturday.

Re the dates, I have now been told that the 9th of January will work for the
tournament and the 11th of January will work for the seminars, but this is
still to be confirmed by the powers that be, so I am reluctant to make the
official announcement just in case it is not approved.
They want us to have the seminars on the Saturday as they would like to sell
tickets to the locals so this will compensate the luncheon that we are being
provided with.
I am thinking that we should start the tournament late afternoon as this
will allow players to travel in the morning and not have to take the
Wednesday off too.

They are also saying that the room stay is going to be $35 per night but
they are giving us a block of 20 rooms at a reduced rate of $20 per night.
We will be able to offer these 20 rooms as prizes to the school members, and
if they have already booked then they will have their room rate adjusted
accordingly. This will make it more fair to the school members if it is not
on a first come first serve basis.

They are also looking into offering 5 days accommodation to go with our
$10,000 prize for the WPO Warm Up.

That is exactly where I am with it and I can let you know more as I do.

Regards

Tina

ugh, I am not arriving until the night of the 9th. Oh well, I need to look for weaker competition than my fellow school members.

I hope to see a lot of you on the 10th and 11th then.

So our PSO seminars are going to be open to everyone that buys a ticket? Do WE have to buy tickets?

Looks like we will be moving our PSO golf event from Thursday afternoon to another time since the PSO tournament is likely to conflict.

Keep us updated asap!

We are intending to hold the seminars on the Saturday 11th January.
We will not be charging the school members for the seminars or luncheon. However The Goldstrike do see a value in advertising the seminars to the local players and they will charge them an admission fee, this will compensate towards the luncheon.

If you wish to call The Goldstrike and make a provisional room reservation, you can do so, this is of course subject to your making the final confirmation once i have confirmation of the dates from The Goldstrike.
We will be giving away in a school promotion a block of 20 rooms with a rate of $20 per night, and any of the school members winning one of these, will be able to give the promotional code to The Goldstrike against their booking and it will be charged at the new discounted rate.

I hope that this clarifies things a little better and i am so sorry to have to wait this long to confirm dates

Adam,
I would say if you plan on going for the days including the PSO convention, that you go ahead and call the Horseshoe or the Gold Strike and make your reservations. I would tell them you are with the PSO group, just so that if there is any addtional discount you will be sure and get it. In fact, everyone who books a room should do this....Casinos remember those who come in numbers! The rate will be $35 plus tax, if there is no additional discount. You can be sure you can get plenty to eat for just the price of a gratuity to the servers, so food is a great deal !!

How does this clarify anything regarding the dates?

Make your reservations through the Horseshoe poker room, 800-558-2387, ask for Theresa. They will make arrangements for the reduced $29 rate. Tell them you are playing in a couple tourney events, they will accomodate you.

The rate is $35 every nite thru the WPO..and you can book thru Teresa at the Horseshoe...(see my WPO ROOM post).
Tina has gotten a block of 20 rooms that the rate will be $20 a nite for the days of the PSO convention....Jan 9th thru 11th, and she is going to hold a tournament for those interested in "winning" the reduced rate.

Teresa is aware that there is a group of PSOers coming during the WPO..although I don't think she's been involved in any of the negotiations in any way. The only reason I suggested mentioning the PSO group to her, was I'd like for the Horseshoe (the people I work for, and with) to know that the "group" will be there. You just never know when a group will need something and be recognized as a force.

As I've posted before....feel free to email me if you have any questions about "local" things. I have no input or authority or knowledge of any of the convention details, anymore than you all do, but I can get the local stuff for you.
