May Client Release

Over the next few days we will release another update that will bring improvements to the PokerStars software. Here are the highlights of player-facing features:

Sit & Go Lobby Revamp

PokerStars has made changes to the Sit & Go lobby to make it easier for players to navigate and find the games they want.

We have also added Hyper-Turbo cash Sit & Go’s as part of the non-satellite Sit & Go offering.

Sit Out Next Big blind and Close Table

We have added the functionality to be able to sit out next big blind and close an individual table. “Options” > “Advanced Multi-Table Options” > “’Sit out next big blind’ checkbox: Close table on big blind” enables this feature.

Activating this checkbox changes the behaviour when manually selecting “Sit out next big blind” checkbox to also close the table once sitting out. Note that Session Options can still be used to sit out next big blind on all tables without closing tables. We are interested to hear if this implementation meets the needs of the players.

Apply Active Layout

Players will now be able to reapply a currently saved layout without having to switch it off and on again. The shortcut for this will be CTRL-3, or you can use “Apply Active Layout” from the “View” menu, also accessible directly from every table.

Rearrangement of Title bar for Tournament Tables

The title bar of tournament table windows will now have the most important information (Tournament name and blind information) appearing at the front.

Gx.ini Encryption

The encryption for gx.ini will revert to pre-April state. This should ensure that custom mods will work again after this update.
Option not to Steal Focus when Typing in Chat or taking a Note

Following up on the update for detached chat last build, we have added an option in “Options” > “Advanced Multi-Table Options” called “Don’t steal focus from chat and notes”. When this checkbox is enabled and a new table pops to the front, the focus will remain on the table where the player was typing.

Note that enabling this option might affect third party tools such as hotkeys, since the table which has keyboard focus is not the table that needs action, but the table where you are taking a note.

Other changes:

The Filter buttons have changed slightly – now the “light” is independent of the menu so you can turn the filters on or off without having to close the settings dialog as well.

Various minor improvements and fixes throughout the client, including a set of improvements that deal with disconnections.

Good Luck

Rake is to High, will kill the games and a lot of player ROI.
I think this should have been looked at a little harder, the backlash is coming.

Turbos were bad enough with 5 minute blinds, now they are 3 minute blinds and will become more of a shove fest than they were.

I've only ever been interested in using this option when multitabling, and it has been a multitable option for some time. If I'm on only one table, it takes about two seconds extra to actually close the table, so I don't imagine that this feature will exactly be revolutionary. Especially since I'll still use the sit out only option when I'm just going to the washroom or grabbing a drink or something of the like.

Looking forward to this. I won't have to bring up the lobby every time I multitable different tournaments and want to know which is which.

I haven't noticed any increase in rake other than on the micro tables, but I'm getting thoroughly sick of these so called improvements. "Normal" speed SNG's below 90 players now have a 6 minute blind structure. That's a turbo as far as I'm concerned and not something I'll be keen to play.

So first they kill off the DON's which I used to grind. Now they've ruined the alternative game (27 Player SNG's) that I moved onto. This time they've gone too far. Once I've conducted a recce of the competition I really do think I'll be off to pastures new.

is this thread monitored?

first of all this is a very good decision for all players with handicaps. however it´s not the pre-april state what you guys rolled out.

pre-april it was possible to change the screen resolution to widescreen and to add a base theme. both points are very important!

just for the books we have 2011 and the overwhelming majority of players have a widescreen monitor. 4:3 crt´s are way out of date... as a solution you guys should add the screenresolution to the gx.ini. makes no sense where it is actually.

please keep in mind that especially this feature was great for people with handicaps or people playing on a mobile device or netbook,. playing on a netbook with a screenresolution of 1360x800 and not beeing able to maximize the table to full screen width is simply a joke and not state of the art. full tilt is way better at this point!

about adding base themes... the basic problem is that your updates still overwrite changes to the ini, to the decks&chips folder. for players with modded clients this causes a lot of trouble.

on pokermods.tk and vvolfskinz.tk we have developed a tool which makes it possible for our players to keep their mods and update the client at the same time. however not all players use this tool so they stillhave to prevent the client from updating which couldn´t be in your interest and so it isn´t for us.

we are looking forward for you promised enhanced xthemes and we hope you will inlcude those two features. otherwise we fear to see a run between stars and some russian hackers about this again. something which isn´t in the interest of all of us cause of the risks which come along with it..

i like the new lobby. very clean looking now! that was about of time and is a major enhancement! thx for this as i know how long this was requested!

cheers duck

ps: i still hope to release this one some day...

Last post was over my head but +1 because I know it made sense. The problem with the decks/chips is a bit disappointing, because I know that many people pay good money to customize their table. Having those themes stop working because of an update is unfortunate for the update. I'd rather know before buying themes that they'll actually work for more than a few weeks until the next update arrives.

I'd also like to eventually see full-screen tables. Talk about cream of the crop poker client software.

I expect with approx one third of their income gone overnight but the same shareholders and overheads to pay they need to squeeze all they can out of the rest.

That makes business sense in a tight aggressive way

...I've really got to wonder if this is the reason for chaning up the dons you liked grinding...
