We went to the states for a few days of shopping and I thought I would bring my laptop to
relax after shopping all day. I logged on to pokerstars and was not allowed to play
so I shut it down. Now I just got this message from pokerstars security.....
What do you think?
Hello,

PokerStars has noticed that you recently accessed our services from the United
States.

As you may already be aware, residents of the United States and United States
Territories are not permitted to make deposits into their accounts or engage in
real-money activity (game play, transfer of funds, or T$ trading) from anywhere in
the world. Such players may cash out their balances.

Residents of other nations are not permitted to engage in real-money activity (game
play, transfer of funds, or T$ trading) while physically located in the United
States. This applies even if you are a resident of another country.

We can confirm that any attempt to circumvent these restrictions is a breach of the
PokerStars Terms of Service. This will lead to your account being closed and your
account balance being forfeited.

PokerStars has further information on this information online here:
http://www.pokerstars.com/usaplayers/faq/

PokerStars’ Terms of Service is available on our website in full:
http://www.pokerstars.com/poker/room/tos/

We trust that this has been helpful to you, but please feel free to email
security@pokerstars.com if you require any further clarification.

Sincerely,

PokerStars Security Team

Welcome to the US!!!

The story goes something like this...

...then...

...so...

and it goes on and on and on...

I was gonna end by saying, "thank you for spending your money, now go home." ...but are you freaking kidding me..there's some story on the news about an old law that tourists can't overspend on visit here??
Yeah..we got too much money here, I get it now.

I didn't mean to be rude, I apologize..the story was to depict how we were all having a "good time" until the feds showed up..and our attitude toward the situation. Guess a joke sucks if you have to explain it.
Nothing directed at you, and the first line in the last part is a joke about tourists, that you hear a lot in Florida.

Sorry,

Sorry,
I'm not buying it... you heard him, everyone from the states is rude. It seems like a rational belief to me.

What if someone went to the states and had a VNC server running back home in say, Canada or the UK? Then they could use their iPad or laptop from the USA to connect to their machine back home and play poker. I don't think Stars could detect that, correct?

No, I wouldn't try it myself, anytime I would go to the States, it would be on vacation anyway, so I wouldn't have time to play poker anyway.

+1

Besides, if you move out of the U.S., you can play for cash on your current account, so there would be no need to break the rules.
