Immediately before the last tournament of the month i noticed that the number of players was shown as 1422 in the league leader board.

This must mean that 78 people have not played a single game this month (along with a few who have only played 1 or 2 to get a positive score and stay in top 800).

Do they automatically get a score of 1500 and thus possibly stay in the premier league or is there a requirement to play a set minimum number of games (similar to prize eligibility) to maintain premier league status ?

It's an interesting question, and I can confirm that the non-players are filtered out. You can see that by going to this page of the current (as I write) Premier League Leaderboard and you'll see that the 1500s aren't showing.

Thanks for asking

But do they still get a PL ticket for next month ? (Assuming that the 800 ish figure happens to be less than a score of 1500)

No, they will not requalify through the Premier League for a PL ticket if they do not play during the month. They will also not have qualified through the Open League as even if they have played there they will not have been scored for that leaderboard. Only other way to get a ticket is through the cash buy in Qualifying League.

Many people only seem to want to play the Open League, so sit out the Premier League to get relegated back there. They are used to it or have a system that works to get regular prizes in the Open League with 20VPPs and perhaps do not have the 150VPPs for the increased prizes in the Premier League.

Others are maybe just taking time off the tables this month.
