The poker tournament for a new world record

On December 4 you can be part of history as PokerStars aims to break its own Guinness World Record for the largest poker tournament ever staged! Entry costs just $1, and with a guaranteed $50,000 for first place, you get great value, plus the chance to be part of something truly special. The record attempt will be sanctioned by Guinness World Records and listed in their renowned database of ‘world bests’.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 10th Anniversary World Record Tournament:
• Date:
 December 4
Time: 12:30 ET
Buy-In: $1
Prize Pool Guarantee: $250,000
Grand Prize: $50,000 for first place

To register for this special tournament, open the PokerStars client and click ‘Events’, ‘10th Anniversary’ & ‘All’. To find it even faster, type the word ‘record’ in the Tourney Filter.
PokerStars already holds the current World Record, but it’s only right that we should celebrate the 10th Anniversary with a new target of 150,000 players. Don’t miss out on joining Team Pro and thousands of others in the biggest poker tournament of all time!

World Record Tournament 10th Anniversary Timeline

The world’s largest poker site has been setting new standards and smashing records since 2001. One of the biggest achievements of all however came in 2009 when a staggering 149,196 players took part in the same tournament, setting a new World Record that still stands today. But now it’s time to aim higher than ever before, and you can help us make history once again for a buy-in of just $1!, if you have questions about the world record tournament and your participation, please contact support@pokerstars.com. We wish all participants much fun and success!

Is this an attractive proposition for players? Ok, there will be a large prize pool and it's cheap.

'Plus the chance to be part of something truly special' Gee thanks! Me thinks getting in the Guinness Book World Records is going to mean much more to PS than anyone playing in it.

Not moaning, just thinking it's not a very well thought through promo. They want people to play to get the record. Not sure why people would want to play.

Having said all that, will I play it? Not sure. Might go for the lottery instead

I played the one in 2009 with 149,196 and finished 6,955 for $5. was a fun experience, and ya figure someone has to win it so why not take a shot

Wow! I'm impressed! PS really are listening. Look what they did after reading my post

In addition, the top-5 finishing players in the World Record Tournament in the UK & Ireland will each be awarded a $215 ticket to play the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million, with a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000! The highest finishers in places 6-100 meanwhile will each win a Sunday Storm ticket worth $11.

Ok, you got me, I'm in now.

Might be for some players. For me It's a close call

BTW Please note the Million and Storm ticket promo I posted above is for UK and Ireland players. Guess they'll be doing similar stuff for others.

$215 more for finishing in the top 5 convinced you that it was now worth playing?

Gotcha

I'm not sure I'm clear about this bit though....................

"In addition, the top-5 finishing players in the World Record Tournament in the UK & Ireland will each be awarded a $215 ticket to play the 10th Anniversary Sunday Million, with a guaranteed prize pool of $10,000,000! Now does that mean 100 Brits are going to get something extra, or do you actually have to finish in the top 100? I'm assuming it's 100 of us, but lawyers make fortunes arguing over the meaning of sentences like that
