It was a standard play, he should of folded for the pot odds you gave him. But yes this stuff happens all the time.

Why do people join the forum only to post 1 bad beat? I'd say we should put a minimum post limit before you can post in this forum

Welcome to the forum!! You did nothing wrong, when you shoved you had the best hand. You were just unlucky on the river, nothing you can do about that.

Take advantage of all the school has to offer, and if you have any questions lots of people will be glad to help.

you didn't do anything wrong. You got your chips in with the best hand.

You were an 81.3% favorite preflop and a 57.7% favorite after the flop.

Unfortunately, you hit a hand in the 18.7% pre and 42.3% on the flop. If you put all your chips in preflop, you're going to lose about 1 in 5 of the times this happens... and you hit the 1.

Welcome to PSO and the forum.

While the villain's pre-flop call was unwise, he made a correct call on the flop. The pot after per-flop betting stood at T$3280 and you had T$2640 behind and the villain has you covered. You shoved after their minimum opening bet meaning they had to call T$2440 to win T$6120. This gave them 40% equity in the pot. With 13 outs (8 to OESD plus 3 fours and 2 fives) they have 42.2% chance to win. This overlay, even if it is small, makes it a decent call against an over pair.

This is a situation where neither player made a mistake post-flop. Situations like this happen regularly in big bet poker.

Welcome to poker where sometimes a wrong play turns into a big pot.
