These games are not as easy as some people think.

This is the kind of thing you have to contend with, almost every hand.

Bill with all due respect my friend the KQ is a fold pre. You are early in tourney and all you have done is given the blinds odds to see a flop. If you pull up Pokerstove and put KQ in against whatever range you feel the 2 ahead of you are playing you will see you are in trouble.
Go what Spacegravy videos and write down his opening ranges and stop playing so many hands. You are putting yourself in these tough spots.

Thanks for that Cowboy, I really must tighten up, but it is very hard to do when people are playing sooooooooo loose.

Please elaborate Cowboy.

I would have thought that facing just a min-raise KQ is playable here. We have position post flop so a flat here doesn't seem too bad. Also given the bizarre range that people seem to play at this level a raise pre might be justified (especially considering that we are OTB). On the flop I think that if we are going to raise it must be more, else we are just pricing the draws in. But regardless of what we hit I still would have thought that this hand is playable, at this level and in this position, So please explain why you think this should be folded pre?

Swax please re read my post again as there is nothing more to elaborate on. Pokerstove, Spacegravy and the urge to play a crap hand just bc we are getting odds! Go into your hand histories and see how poorly KQ plays! The comment is that this is the type of thing I have to contend with almost everytime. Well if you know this and you don't beleive them don't flat ship it in their face! KQ is garbage! Put it in the trash where it belongs and stop putting yourself in this spot!

No Cowboy, the comment was, 'This is the kind of thing you have to contend with, almost every hand'.

I meant anyone playing in these games at this level.

Not referring to my holding ( which admittedly was not very good pre flop) but to the guy holding 7 2 of hearts, when he had bottom pair on the flop, no flush draw and no straight draw.

OK, he was the pre flop raiser, but with seven two suited, what can he be expecting ?

Flop Quads ? highly unlikely.

Flop a House ? again highly unlikely. ( I know that these hands have happened, but still very unlikely ).

Flop Trips ? more likely, but still not very.

If anything he is either relying on a Flush or it's a Bluff,

If it is the Flush he is after ? Then he should have folded on the flop, but he didn't because he flopped a pair.

If it was a Bluff ? then he should have raised on the flop, because now his Bluff has been improved to a semi Bluff. But he didn't he just flat called.

The first to act bet 3XBB, which he flatted, then was called behind and then raised to 6XBB, which was called by TWO others before it returned to him, and he again just flat called.

When the Turn is dealt, there are FIVE people in the pot.

It is very, very, very doubtful, that ALL FIVE have missed and are Bluffing.

There are Two overcards on that flop and even if the only card to have hit was the seven, he is still behind as the deuce is the worst kicker possible.

The Turn produced a third overcard, it is checked round to the Button ( Me ) and the bet is ALL IN, ( which is almost twice his stack ), he still has only BOTTOM PAIR, no Flush Draw and no Straight Draw, yet he still calls even though my bet has been called before him.

It is that mentality that I was pointing out, that in these tournaments there are a lot of people who just cannot see the wood for the trees, and yet not only manage to survive, but knock out better players ( not saying here that I am better ).

This is what makes these micro stakes tourneys so difficult, even AA would have lost in that hand, just because someone thinks that his Bottom Pair must be the winning hand because, after all he has a Pair. And seven two is a good hand to play because it is suited.

I realise that he may be a total beginner at this game, and as such would not necessarily know much more than the very basics i.e. which hands are better than others.

But that is NOT the point, the point is that there are a lot of these type players in these games, and you perforce have to contend with them.

I am bumping this because it is getting further and further from the front, and is getting harder to find.

Thanks for bumping it Bill I missed it.

I fully understood what you meant. You really do want to play against these bad players. You really do want them making these terrible plays because most of the time you will prevail. Even AA loses 15% of the time to this hand whether they are bad or simply misclick.
What I think needs to be stressed here is that the choices you make put you in positions to make difficult decisions and if you simply watch 3 videos ( yes his 3rd edition just came out ) and you stick to his recommendations you will be profitable.
Bill this is meant for all of us not directed at you but for me as well as every time I stray from these charts it bites me in the ass. If a building has a small fire in the corner and a fireman tells me to get out of the building I listen! If I get in a car wreck on the highway and the police officer tells me to get way back off the shoulder I listen. If my Dr tells me my blood pressure is high and if I take this medication and excersice and watch what I eat I listen!
Well these professionals tell you this becasue it is sound and soild advice and what I am saying is that Spacegravy is just that professional in his area of expertise. Why the hell aren't we listening to him?
