I'm having a struggle at work in the last few weeks, and today suddenly thought of the following quote

which i think is incomplete

"O God give me the strength to change the things I can and to accept things that I can't"

Even those of us who are not religious can probability relate to this quote.

Hi Grade b

- This is known as the Serenity Prayer.

It has been adopted as a mantra by several organisations, most prominent of which is Alcoholics Anonymous. (I'm not sure if it is also used by Gamblers Anonymous, which would make it particularly relevant here...)

My own personal version.

O Lord won't you give
A full house with kings
My friends all got flushes
I must get a win
Worked hard for this pot
I don't want to fold in
O Lord won't you give
A full house with kings

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Thought I'd post the full prayer, and credit the author.

Coz hey, 2nd time I got da rockets at that table:

So I AM praying (as I still made the final one :)

[EDIT] I got them a 3rd time and Smelly Nellie didn't crack them (amazing), so at the break I'm running 3rd of 7 (pays 7 :)

[EDIT2] In case you're wondering, I let an Uzbek get slightly under my skin and finished 5th.
I shouldn't have, but I'll blame the horror beat - which I now consider officially over - and have another beer in preparation for the Drunk Tank.

Every hour and every day I'm learning more
the more I learn, the less I know about before
The less I know, the more I wanna look around
Digging deep for clues on higher ground.

"Mercedes Benz"

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends.
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV ?
Dialing For Dollars is trying to find me.
I wait for delivery each day until three,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a color TV ?

Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town ?
I'm counting on you, Lord, please don't let me down.
Prove that you love me and buy the next round,
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a night on the town ?

Everybody!
Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?
My friends all drive Porsches, I must make amends,
Worked hard all my lifetime, no help from my friends,
So oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz ?

That's it!
