Hi all,

Sitting at a few 1/2 nl tables. Most people buy in for 100bb ($2).

But Royal buys in for 200bb.

What do you do? and why.

I normally buy in for 100 bb and keep it topped. Why cos Dave said so in a video (true story)

Depends

If you go with what is thought and what books says, then always go with MAX
- Standard is 40-100
- Deep is 100-250

I play standard which is 100BB. At low stakes (up to 10NL) I'll go max, then I'll go 80%.

If you are aggressive than you might want to go in with less

Raiser must be playing the Deep buy in

I've been doing good, so I must be doing something right

Hi Grade,

Wow, a strategy question for Royal, that doesn't happen too often!

The reasons I've set my buy-in levels to 200 BB has all got to do with what I've been up to for the last few weeks.

I've upgraded my PC and bought some software (HM2 & TableNinja) and I'm working on practising multi-table play. I can stretch to 12 tables but find it comfortable at 8 at the moment. (Played sessions at 24 tables too and failed, so dropped back down).

I'm using settings on Easy Seat and keeping an eye on the 'Active Session' tab plus the PokerStars lobby to find, stay or leave tables depending on how high/low the average VPIP% is.

Now for the buy-ins, not a lot of thought went into it, my main concern is that I would have most stacks at my table covered at all times and this is down to my playing style.

I'd be a tight player and if I get involved deep in a pot at 2NL I'd be prepared to play for stacks. I find that you get shoved/called so light at this level by the players showing a high VPIP and usually I'd come out ahead. (There's always the one-outers)

It would be hard to find a stack at 2NL where you didn't have it covered at 200 big blinds deep, also I auto top up if I drop below 70% of my initial buy-in.

Again, I haven't given the buy-ins too much concern. Main focus is having as few annoyances as possible and practising multi-table play.

Grade b i was thinking that myself why are royal and others on 200b to start one good point is if they hit they hit BIG me my self i join with 40/44bb max why do i do this because i wont the the other players with 100bb plus to punish me with the stacks make them think they going to force me into some thing when they are not going too as i have a strong holding i know this is risky but with only 40bb you really have to use your head as to what your playing i hope to make a tidy bankroll then join with a bit more knowing that if i got down to say 40bb i could come back on a cash table with out no problems i have try to join with 100bb/200 tbh i get very cocky in the way i play the holding i hold are so week i end up tilting real easy.so am happy pluging away with my 40bb

I do tend to be aggressive. So some times I should buy in for only sixty bb's?

Hey B, buyin for the mood your in, if your feeling good, playing well, running well, get that stack on the table,

If you are feeling tilty, downswing etc why risk it, buy in for less so when and if you push on muck you loose minimal.

Not sure if this is on subject but thats how i look at it and survive.

And like some 1 else mentioned some times a 40bb buyin can throw players of track, they think fish, where as its easy to put another 40bb on the table if u make the wrong decission.

So to me Buyin amounts not as important as the table dynamics,
