Was playing 25NL ZOOM during Happy Hour
This is the worst clean bad beat I've ever received
That one hurt

Once Happy Hour finished, went to play some 50NL
This player was a one star VIP player, was playing like a newbie, limping, calling then folding

Then this hand, kind of made up for the previous one

With this hand, my first losing day, became another winning day..WOOHOO

Ouch I bet that hurt! Sometimes the cute play to exploit the donks can be so heartbreaking.

Hey Trap!

I've actually been in one tourney in vegas with a very similar hand to the first one (luckily I got rag/rag offsuit, so was gone preflop). Board was Ad Jd Ah Ac 10d.

One guy had AsJx for a flopped boat and turned quads and slowplayed it... OOPS. Other opp had KQd and since the guy only made a small flop bet and checked the turn..... BOOM on the river... the KQ guy was priced in to see his 1 outer.

Keep the overall ROI headed higher and a hand like this won't even matter in the long run.

Does the KQ hand realy qualify as a bad beat or a bad play? You created the beat by allowing him to draw for free.
There are only 2 cards that help you a King or a Q and the Qd as we see isn't even any good here. So why are we letting him draw for free?

I don't class this as a true bad beat either - very unfortunate beat after you turn the Full House - but you are behind preflop, flop a very strong hand and slow play - on the flop you are not necessarily ahead even with a good trips and good kicker, but I want to test the opp at this point to get extra value.

The turn is great - and any worse decent hand now should pay off - so I am happy getting it in from here on. Very unlucky to be up against the RF - but I don't think getting beat by the absolute stone dead nuts can ever be called a bad beat, however short the odds of them having it are.

In the long run. you are almost never up against that though - so I like the hand played from the turn.

A minor glitch in the works for you Sandtrap - I am sure - and you played the second hand like I would and got nicely paid.

LOL
Really, do you know what the odds are of getting a Royal Flush?
For me it's a bad beat NOT a bad play
This was Zoom, any amount that I would of bet, he would of called
It's so easy for you to comment as you know the result

When ever you do get to learn to play Zoom Cash, let me know, in the mean time
Stick to SnG's and your ATC cowgirl.......LOL

setting a Sand trap maybe?

I don't think it is bad play - and not even particularly fancy play - fairly standard for the most part - predictability used to be a bigger leak in my game than playing poor or good but vulnerable hands - I wouldn't worry about the play here

I just don't think it counts as a 'bad beat' when I run into the one odd hand that beats me, especially when I am behind to begin with, then flop a good but not nut hand - to my mind if you hit the nuts on the turn and get beat on the river it is not a bad beat - but neither is it bad play - bad luck more than bad beat.

No minor glitch there, luck does sometimes favor the other player..lol
Like I said to cowgirl, this was Zoom and it plays different then regular cash and this player wasn't going to fold to any bet.

For me it's a bad beat, not necessarily in the real sense of a bad beat

I'll have to admit that for you Sandtrap, this probably counts as a bad beat - but for most of us mortals being ostensibly ahead on the turn and losing to the absolute nuts is even more of a rarity - because we don't often get it in that good to begin with - so what we call our bad beats mainly consist of marginal hands getting beat by poor hands that hit ridiculously well. I suppose it's a relative definitional thing.

Good to see your overall game is continuing on upwards and that you can take these 'bad beats' on the chin.

You have taught me, and I'm sure many others, more than you probably realise, through your very helpful posts here and through railing of your games. You have the goods like very few here do - and I hope you continue to prosper at the tables - if I had your discipline and focus I would be a much better player.

Take care and all the best

LOL! It isn't about the royal flush sandy. Its about allowing a free card to be cute and slow play. It's even more about you whining about the beat when you allowed him to get there for free.

If he hits any diamond and it isn't the Q you lose! You lost a hand that sucked and is extremely rare but then you make the comment of it being the cleanest bad beat you have ever had. That's the funny part.

This is a site we are trying to help the new people and you mislead them by suggesting this that's all. Cowgirl really? I remember when I was in grade 2. LOL

Harrassing you! You come in every one of my posts and in your witty way attack me. I come into yours to offer a different view point.
You upper case some words as though to say "this is how it is" yet you want us to beleive there are many different ways to play.

It's all good Sandy you don't have to defend anything, you record stands for itself. Remember friend we are both here to help the others and maybe learn a thing or two along the way.

you want him to be on a straight or diamond draw once the queen comes on the turn so you get action so slow playing is right here imo. why put the chips in when he can do it for you . do you know how hard it is making royals lol.
