Starting Bankroll $5.

This is a very tiny BR for what I am trying to achieve, but that's all the "very high risk/ high reward" BR that I can afford. So be it.

Mini-Micro Satellites into Events at the Big/Bigger/Hot/Hotter $2.20-$4.40 range, which have very good prizes. The Entry fees vary between $0.22-$0.88.

My aim is to get through to the Main Tourney, of course, and to get to the ITM (and make a profit overall) in at least one Main Tourney. This is not going to be easy, but I'll give it my best shot. I have about 11-15 chances of getting a Tourney Ticket, so I am hoping to play in about 2-3 Main Tourneys.

It is normally the top 10% that make it through to the Main Tourney.

This will help discipline me to playing tight intitally, and not to go All-In Pre-Flop to any "Ivanna Havitov" re-raises. It will also help my BR control....as I find MTT's as tempting as After Eight Mints.

I am going to do the Turbo, rather than Hyper-Turbo, as there is a little less luck and more skill involved. These Satellites have 1000 Starting chips, 5 minute Blinds, and alot of action on the tables from the word Go! And the blinds and ante's eat your Stack towards the end. Great fun

I will update the results below as and when I have done them.

Any tips for the Satellites of this structure are received gratefully.

Times of these Events(Turbo) at the moment (not weekends) are WET:

First one I busted out...but had another dodgy hand in the Blinds that was worth a risk. Manna from Heaven - with a slightly "Nutty" aftertaste Great double-up

I'm in the Big $3.30!!!

If I get ITM, the smallest prize is $26.30....that's IF I get ITM.

So, as far as this Challenge goes, my tactic will be to tread very carefully through the Bubble, in the unlikely event I get that far! Should I get ITM, then I will be going for it, as my Challenge would be completed whatever the result is.

just lost 400 chips ..I raised Pre with JJ, and lost to trips 10 still 2600 chips, so fairly deepish stack. It was worth a go anyway

2 hrs in report

Having a great tourney, I am on an average chipstack (11,545) (av. 8853), been calling when I can get away with it to see the flop and got lucky doing that a couple of times.

Pulled myself out of low "m" when I had to a couple of times too.

1160 players left, Extended Reg has just ended. Prizes 432 places paid.

Minimum prize is now $5.34 (its gone down as there are 3359 entrants)

The good news is, that's in the bag

Yes I am ITM, still got a decent(ish) stack of 13,000 chips, average stack is 23,000.

Folded pocket 10's in position with 11 places to go before ITM....I know, but just need a cash as it's a Challenge.

now I'm into the Hot $3.30

And my very first hand was AA in the BB

everyone dutifully folded all the way round to me.........TUT TUT. So I made 15 chips!

Blinds were 100/50 and I had 55 UTG. Its a fold to Experts..probably , but I wanted a peek, so raised to 220. I had 3 callers. FLOP 3 4 6. rainbow.hmmmm. Why did I play this hand? Raised it 1/3 pot. One caller. hmmmmmm. WTF am I doing?..Then a big raise on the Turn which I think was a K. HMMMMMMMMMMM. Fook. Had to fold, he showed me 66. Phew. Lost half me stack. Dumbo.

Bit of an early exit, that one. My AQ lost to trips 8.

Onwards and upwards..I think the next one ,if there IS a next one, I will play as tight as a Scotsman's purse (excepting one Scotsman).

Playing nearly as tight as a drum, I have had both 77 and 10 10, did a peek on both. Still have 2795 chips. BTW, First Prize is $2,362 !

So, this is the first break after 25 minutes play. I have a VPIP 70 (I am VPIP 0 !!) sitting immediately next to me on the left. Say no more. That'll help me keep my chips in my pocket

Extended Reg is 2 hours, so its a bit of a long haul...plenty of tea methinks.

I am out in 2572/5055+, I had AQ and lost to Ak. I bet 2.5bb, he raised me 900 pre flop. I looked at my dwindling stack and went for it. There's always tomorrow

I've moved tables a few times, my VPIP was 3.

I had KQc but didn't really think that it was good enough to start, plus I was way out of position. Fold.

And I folded 55 early too (55 messed me up in the last one,) and guess what, it didn't hit, and the guy with KK won the hand. Good fold.

I had my first opportunity with AJs in late, cost 200 to see flop. Four way, 8 9 9 flop. Didn't hit and folded to a raise..prob a fishy one. I dont care.

As its only midnight, I think I'll have a stab at the 2.20 Sats, one in 10 mins, one in 30 mins...play both.

Hi Weasel

personally, i don't like this fold but of course making itm is your main goal and you made it good job weasel

but if your going to play a tournament it's better to go for the win you'll never know luck might be with you with the flips and you ended up first place it's really worth the risk after all your not shoving with 83o your putting your chips w T's near the bubble and it is a very strong hand and yes, you might be flipping w AJ but getting deeper in a tournament is worth the risk of not getting to ITM

my suggestion is play the satellite then unregister if you can and accumulate enough BR that you will not be afraid of risking your tourney life near the bubble. In this way you can play the tournament going for the win not for ITM first

just giving my opinion please don't feel offended in any way.

Hi marvin,

I would not be offended at all by your comment.

But, please understand that this was a discipline (read my first post, especially paragraph 3), (also my 3rd post) and had I not folded the Pocket Tens, I may not have "succeeded" in my Challenge. I have completed my goal, and from now on playing to win I do know that you understand that, but I have to stick to my rules, right or wrong!

Unregistering before the Tourney is mostly not an option, as the Sat. finishes after the tourney has started.

However, last night's 4.40 Sat finished 8 minutes before, and I did consider Unregestering. I agree that if it happens again, that I should unregister, to try and build the BR for this.

I do think that I have been very lucky to get through so many Satellites so far. We'll see how I do in the next few!

Strategy for the next tourney, if there is one:

I think I played a little "over-tight" in the last one, and maybe some of the hands that i have included in my thread could have been played stronger/ better. I also could have had more cheap peeks at the flop.

Going back to how I just normally play, and see where that takes me....in the first tourney I was around VPIP 20 in some earlier stages. Just all depends on how cheap it is to see the flop, my cards, and my position.

Having a think about what Marvin was on about......

My Average Buy-In is 0.38 so far.

So, if I worked on the MTT Turbo Multiplier, Aggressive Stance, that would be 50x

Which is $19 B.R.

A Cautious Stance would be 200x

Which is $76 B.R.
