To get you started we'd like you to play some play money games (In the PokerStars lobby go to Hold'em > Play Money > No Limit) and using the Hand Replayer please post a hand that you have found difficult here in this thread.

Doing this will ensure that you know how to use the hand replayer tool and if you've any questions on it just ask us.

Also please attend one of the 'Getting Started at PokerStars' live training sessions. You'll find these sessions daily in the Live Training section.

Post back here when you have done both these things and we'll move you on to the next stage.

OK, the hand replayer can be a little difficult to get used to in the beginning but once you get the hang of it it's a great tool.

Copy and paste the hand history in here and I'll put it into the replayer for you.

Ok, to continue on you will really need to practice using the hand replayer. The problem you've encountered seems to have been in the way you copied the hand history?

Please attend the 'Getting Started at PokerStars' training session. In this class you can ask the live trainer how to successfully copy a hand history from PokerStars.

These 'getting started' sessions can be found daily in the Live Training section.

I've fixed the hand you supplied above, here it is:

Sorry, this hand was deleted by its owner

In this situation there is no need for a shove all-in with this starting hand. Holding an Ace looks attractive but in middle position with such a low kicker card it can lead to trouble and cost you a lot of money.

Attend the live training (getting started), practice using the hand replayer and post another hand here and we'll continue on from there.

Hi spendlow,

You'll find instructions on how to use the Hand Replayer here.

Have a look at the instructions. If you have any questions on it please ask me or attend one of the 'Getting Started at PokerStars' Live Training sessions and the trainer will explain to you fully how to get your hand histories into the hand replayer.

It's usually takes a couple of attempts to get it right so don't despair, keep trying

Good to hear , now use the link feature of the hand replayer (see photo) to insert the hand as a video into the Forum here.

Simply select 'Forum/Blog' and copy and paste the code into your Forum post here.

This is an important step to complete in order to move on with the promotion.

i was playing in the 10 FPP tourney and blew out with a continuation bet. Do you think that this was to much of an agressive play with just AK at tis stage of the tournament considering the pot size and the flop? Sorry to be a pain but this is much more of a interesting hand. i ended up finishing in 1074th place out of 2757 players.

Hi Spendflow

First the A5s hand. I would raise preflop. Raising preflop is going to allow you to win the pot postflop when you don't hit the ace.

As played I like the way you played this hand. On the flop we should definitely bet, for value and for protection, when checked to. I think we should continue to bet and to raise when given the opportunity on the river. Overall this is a nice spot and well done postflop. If you just call the river you risk losing so much value from worse AX hands that can call a substantial raise.

The AKo hand we have the option of moving all-in before the flop, as opposed to raising to 4 times the big blind. I think either is fine, in a tournament like this, the structure may dictate that moving all-in is going to be more advantageous to us than simply raising and allowing more players to see a flop. With a stack size of 15bb, moving all in before the flop should always be an option you consider.

On the flop I would not mind checking and calling an all-in from our opponent. In this particular circumstance that would not have turned out too well for us! But he is not going to flop a straight every time, and with the size of the pot, if we check we can get someone to bet with their broadway cards that missed the flop.

Best of luck

Hi spendlow,

Now your ready to have a go at passing the Basic Assessment quiz. Study the Poker Basic course first and spend some time on it, there's no need to rush it, digest all the information there.

Once you've passed the quiz post back here and we'll move on from there.
