Hi mddy007,

Yes, you are eligible and welcome to the Bankroll Builder.

To get you started we'd like you to play some play money games (In the PokerStars lobby go to Hold'em > Play Money > No Limit) and using the Hand Replayer please post a hand that you have found difficult here in this thread.

Doing this will ensure that you know how to use the hand replayer tool and if you've any questions on it just ask us.

Also please attend one each of the 'Getting Started at PokerStars' and 'Bet Sizing' live training sessions. You'll find these sessions daily in the Live Training section.

Please post back here when you have done both these things and we'll move you on to the next stage.

Please take and post the hand history that you are trying to get into the replayer here and I'll see what I can do to help.

Hi mddy007!

With A3s on the button, I have a limp and then a min-raise in front of me. I'm in position and have a hand with potential, but it plays much better against one opponent than multiple opponents (could be up to 4 opps in the hand). Due to this, I'm going to 3-bet here and I will size my 3-bet at between 3X the previous bet (180) and a pot-sized raise (195) so I will bet 190. Hopefully this will isolate me in position against the player that min-raised.

As an example, I'm going to use A3s against different number of opponents (will assume that all of them will play 20% of hands, which isn't likely, but is what I'll use to show my point).
Against 1 opponent, A3s will win 45.1% of the time (a slight underdog, but a coin flip where I can use my position to make this be a positive play).
Against 2 opps, I only win 29.3% of the time.
Against 3 opps, I only win 22.4% of the time.
Against 4 opps, I only win 18.7% of the time.

As you can see, playing this hand against multiple opponents makes this a hand that I will lose over 2/3 of the time, so if this would be the case, I want to muck the hand preflop.

The flop gives me top pair with a bad kicker and all of the opps check to me. This is exactly where I can turn the odds around if I was up against only one opp, due to being in position. Since they all check, they basically say that they are afraid of an ace.
Due to this, I'm going to make what my standard value bet would be for this type of board and number of opponents, which is a pot-sized bet. I need to be sure that anyone that has a draw is getting the wrong odds to draw at it, and I need to be sure that ALL of the opps are getting the wrong odds (which is much harder to do, the more opps that are in the hand.

My normal value bet would be 1/2 the size of the pot (but that is only effective against one opponent). With more opps, I need to bet more to accomplish the same thing, which is that if they want to try to draw, I want to make them call enough chips that they expect to lose chips to me each and every single time that they call.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Hi mddy007!

Now it's time to study the Poker Basics course and after you've studied it, try to pass the quiz.

Once you've passed it we'll award you your first buy-in and continue on from there.

Please let me know when you do this.

Good luck!

Hi mddy007!

Your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours.

Use this first buy-in to then play ONLY the 1/2 cent full ring real money tables only on PokerStars. Playing any other game format will disqualify you from being able to obtain further buy-ins through this promotion.

Post back here when you get your first buy-in and start playing these games, along with a hand that you had problems, or that cost you money, while playing with this buy-in.

Also, please attend an 'Entering a Cash Game Pot' live training session. This should help too.

Good luck!
