Hi SungSanNim,

You are eligible for the Bank Roll Builder promo!

The next thing that you will need to do is to attend one of the 'Getting Started With Pokerstars' live training sessions. Please let me know after you have attended this session.

Also, you can be practicing on the play money NL 9-max/ring tables and please post a hand that you were not sure about using the hand replayer. Here is a video tutorial on how to use the hand replayer.

I just finished a live training. I played a few games, now my question is did I play this right? I was the short stack on the button with a suited connector.

Hi SungSanNim,

Thanks, yes we saw you in the 'Getting Started' session tonight with André, thanks for attending.

Also thanks for posting this hand for review, I'll ask one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at this for you and offer some feedback.

Hi SungSanNim, interesting hand!

There are several points worth noting here. Firstly, try to play on full tables. Playing against fewer player requires more experience and post flop skills. In other words, it will be easier for you to make money on a full 9 man table. You can adjust the filter in the Pokerstars lobby to only show tables with 7 or more players for example.

Secondly, you ar really short stacked. I'm not sure how you got in that situation, but it is better to add chips rather than playing super short. Being short stacked limits your options and increases the likelyhood that your shove will be called.

As for the hand, nice job suited connectors play well against multiple players. Normally I would not be going all in with this hand, but since you only have 4 bb, this was a great spot to take a chance. The cards fell your way and you won a nice pot.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Hi SungSanNim,

Now we want to get you playing on the real money tables. Next up, and spend some time on this one , study the Poker Basic Course and take the basic assessment quiz at the end of that course.

Once you have passed this quiz your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours of passing it. Remember you can earn up to a total of $8 with this promotion.

Use this first buy-in to then only play the 1/2 cent fullring real money tables only on PokerStars. Post back here when you pass the quiz, get your first buy-in and start playing these games and we'll continue on from there.

If you have already passed the Poker Basic Quiz please check back this time tomorrow and we'll advise on the next step.

Hi SungSanNim,

Congrats on passing the quiz. Your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours. Remember you can earn up to a total of $8 with this promotion.

Use this first buy-in to then only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Don't worry if you lose this first buy-in as you will be able to earn another buy-in should this happen.

Use all that you have learned so far to try some real money games (1/2 cent tables). Post any hands that you have difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze them for you.

Also, please attend the 'Bet Sizing' live training session. This session can be found daily in the Live Training section.

Please let me know when you receive the buy-in and attend the training session.

I thought he was bluffing.
Hi SungSanNim

Interesting hand! You mentioned that you thought he was bluffing. Was this a read you had on him from earlier hands, or just a gut feeling? Anyway, he was bluffing preflop by playing such a weak hand as K5o. Lucky flop for him though...

The most important thing to notice in this hand is your bet sizing. Preflop the standard raise would be 3x +1x for the limper making it 8 cents rather than 10. Raising with AQ AND position is perfect in this spot though - nice job!

You missed the flop and the villain leads with a 10 cent raise into a 24 cent pot. Without a read, it is hard to know what this raise means. Usually when someone flops a strong hand like two pair, they will check raise. So, I would have reraised just like you did. However, I would have raised less. 3x the original raise is standard. I would have made it 30 cents rather than 40.

The reason I am stressing bet sizes is that the villain was short stacked. Had we bet less preflop and on the flop, it would have been easier to fold to his all in 3bet. His all in reraise looks strong. I don't like to call large raises post flop when I do not have a made hand. So, I would have folded. But, we are getting decent odds to call if we believe that he could be making such a strong move as a bluff.

This was a tough spot, but it might have been avoided had your two bets been a bit less.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Hi SungSanNim,

Now it's time to study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Once you've passed the quiz post back here and we'll continue on tomorrow.

Brilliant!

Your second buy-in will now be awarded within 24 hours.

Use all that you have learned so far to again play some real money games (1/2 cent tables).

Post any hands that you have difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyse them for you.

Unfortunately we don't have transcripts for the 'Bet Sizing' classes. These are live training sessions that members have to attend in real time.
