Hello everyone from the pokerstarsschool community! So yesterday I was playing in the Pokerschool freeroll MTT, and when there were about 3000 players remaining a got pocket 8's on UTG +2, and this hand got my head twisted. This is how I played it: I raised 3x the bb - 120, everyone folded and then UTG +5 called, the button reraised to 400, I 3-beted to 600 and UTG +2 went all in, the button re raised all in as well, I called and lost the hand as they had AQ and KJ and the flop came A-10-6. On this play, what should I have done differently? Thanks in advance

Hi Mr0ToHero!

Welcome to the forum. Here is a link that will help to get you familiar with many of the items that PSO has to offer.

In a league game, I have one and only one goal and that is to last as long as possible and to not take chances. I need to do this in order to accumulate more and more points for the monthly leaderboards. It's also much more important later in the month when an early exit will get me a higher negative league point value.

Due to this, early in a tourney, I'm mucking all of the marginal hands that I get, which includes any pair lower than QQ. It's just not worth risking my chips on a marginal hand.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Thanks a lot John. Your advice will really help me in the upcoming MMT's, I used to think that it's not so bad to play that kind of hands in the early stage of a MMT. Thanks a bunch pal!

Hi Mr0ToHero!

The league games have a different strategy from a standard cash MTT. In a cash MTT, I would have made a standard raise with it, then folded to the button's 3-bet.

Good luck at the tables.
