Hi kingsam12345,

You are eligible for the Bank Roll Builder promo!

The next thing that you will need to do is to attend one of the 'Getting Started With Pokerstars' live training sessions. Please let me know after you have attended this session.

Also, you can be practicing on the play money NL full ring tables and please post a hand that you were not sure about, using the hand replayer. Here's a short video on how to use the Hand Replayer

I got dealt KT suited and raised. The Flop came and i had top pair and then check- raised. The turn gave me a straight, someone else went all in and i called. We both had a straight and shared the pot.
What would have been the best way for me to play this?

Hi kingsam12345!

With KTs from the BB, I would make a standard raise if I was going to play the hand (I'd fold if the opps were tight). What I use for a raise amount is to between 3X the previous bet (120) and a pot-sized raise (150). Normally I try to go to the top end of this range, especially when I'm out of position, so I'll raise to 150.

The flop gives me top pair and an OESD, but it's very coordinated and the opps could already have a made straight. Especially since I raised preflop, I need to make a c-bet here and will lead out for 2/3 pot (247). I don't want to risk trying a check/raise, as I do not want to have the opps behind me check and get a free card, as there are a number of cards in the deck that can easily beat me.
When the opp bets a small amount, if I did check/raise, I need to size my bet at 3X the opp's bet (or larger if there is more than 1 opp in the hand). Any raise smaller than this will give the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me, which is something that I do not want to do. If they want to try to outdraw me, I want to be sure that I'm betting enough so that they expect to lose chips on average, each time that they want to chase a draw. In this case, with a check/raise, I really would need to check/shove, as the amount of chips I'd want to bet (a 1/2 pot raise) would make me pot-committed.

The turn gives me a straight, but there is a flush draw out there. I'm absolutely going to lead here and with the size of the pot already, I'm going to shove the turn. Any bet lower than a shove would give either opp with two diamonds the correct odds to outdraw me, so I need to shove the turn.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Hi kingsam12345!

Please let me know when you have attended the training session, or if the times for it don't work for you, we'll go with an alternative.

Hi John,

I enjoyed reading your analysis of the KT suited hand and agree with the logic in betting more chips earlier on.
I am planning on going to the live session on saturday and will let you know once i've attended it.

Hi John

I'm just letting you know that i've attended some of the live training events. I went to the Getting Started, Bet sizing and Cash Basics live sessions. I also then looked in on the Saturday Game and have applied to be a member.
I found these live sessions really helpful and fun.

Hi kingsam12345!

Now we want to get you playing on the real money tables. Next up, and spend some time on this one , study the Poker Basic Course and take the basic assessment quiz at the end of that course.

Also, please attend the 'Bet Sizing' live training session. This session can be found in the Live Training section.

Once you have passed this quiz and attended the live training, please let us know and your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours of passing it and notifying us. Remember you can earn up to a total of $8 with this promotion.

Use this first buy-in to then play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables only on PokerStars. Post back here when you get your first buy-in and start playing these games and we'll continue on from there.

Hi kingsam12345!

Congrats on passing the quiz. Your first buy-in will be credited into your account within 24 hours. Remember you can earn up to a total of $8 with this promotion.

Use this first buy-in to then only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Don't worry if you lose this first buy-in as you will be able to earn another buy-in should this happen.

Use all that you have learned so far to try some real money games (1/2 cent tables). Post any hands that you have difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze them for you.
Please let me know when you receive the buy-in and attend the training session.

Already Lost the $2
