Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

I have double K, I think I should bet before flop to raise the pots fund. So, I bet 3/4 of pots at flop turn river, is that ok?

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi kut3boy!

With KK (or any other hand that I want to raise with) I will make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper. Since there are 5 limpers, I will raise to 8BB or 16 chips.

I see a very coordinated flop with 4 opps. I should have the best hand here, so I will make a c-bet and due to the board texture and number of opps in the hand, I will make a pot-sized bet of 52 chips.

The turn puts a second flush draw out there and once again I will make a value bet. With 3 opps, I'm going to normally bet 3/4 pot (159 chips).... however, this is 1/2 my remaining chips, which means that I'm pot-committed. Due to this, I'm going to shove the turn.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Hi,
I have passed the Cash Game quiz. And the 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet are:
1. to gain value from very strong hands
2. to bluff people off decent hands
3. to protect against strong draws

Please let me know what to do next.

thanks!

Hi Kut3boy! I'll take a look at this hand for you.

Pre-flop is fine with KK UTG, although I'd stick with the standard raise of 3bb to disguise the strength of my hand. (If you always make it 4bb with KK/AA, then observant villains will know exactly what you have and will be able to play perfectly against you).
You get one caller in MP and the flop comes T96. It's possible the caller flopped the nuts with 87, and sets are also possible, but you can get value from Tx and random overcards and draws (QJ) with your c-bet.
The turn ace is horrible for you. If villain floated the flop with AJ+, he just got lucky. If he had AT, he now has top 2. Sets and straights that slowplayed the flop have you pretty much drawing dead.

Playing KK out of position when an ace hits the board is one of the trickiest situations in poker. While you'd like the turn to get checked through so you can get your hand to showdown, if you check here, a competent player will bet in position whether he has a monster hand or total air. You don't want to be bluffed off your hand.
So I think the bet-fold plan is correct. 12c is a little too small (it really looks like the ace scared you) so a villain might raise as a bluff to get you off hands like JJ-KK, but then again the small bet still gets value from worse one pair hands like QQ-JJ, KT/QT/JT and the QJ straight draw that stick around. When villain raises all in, this is a pretty easy fold. He's committed all his stack, you only have 2 outs to improve, and you could still be drawing dead against the nut straight.

I think you played this hand pretty well. You made a good laydown when the board got ugly for your kings. Lots of beginners would "get married" to this hand and lose their stack, so well played sir!

Good luck with the next stage of this promotion!

Cheers,
Arty
