I was looking to see if I could take part in this promotion. My friend got me hooked a while ago, but I've been quite skeptical as to whether or not I should put some of my own money on the line. Im looking for some confidence and to add some experience at the tables online and at home.

Thanks,
AAinmypockt

Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

I just joined a 1/2 play money table and got some good cards. I made a raise of 4BB, was that enough? It seemed as everyone stayed in the hand, and I doubt their hands were as strong as mine. Did I make the right play? and when the flop came up, 2KK, I doubt that someone actually had a king but I still folded. Should I have stayed in? I would have hit the jack which I think with KKJJ-Akicker, I would have been the best hand. I want your input on how you would have played the hand.

Recap of questions:
Size of raise?
Fold to that size of bet?
If I had stayed in, how should I have played this hand?

Thank you so much,
AAinmypockt

I have completed the first 3 steps, am I eligible for the bonus now? And with this bonus, if I make millions do I get to see any of it?

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi AAinmypockt!

The first tip that I would give you is that whenever playing ring games, always wait for the BB to start playing. Paying the extra blinds over and over will be a very large drain to a player's bankroll.

With AJ from UTG, this is a marginal hand for me at best. Since I'm out of position, I normally try to play only AK or AQs from here, so the overwhelming majority of the time, I'm mucking AJ.
If I did play it, I'm going to make my standard opening raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, so with me being first to act, I'll raise to 6 chips.
I want to keep all of my raises standard, so that the opps are continually guessing as to the strength of my hand. I do not want to bet more with better hands and less with marginal ones, as observant opps will see this and be able to exploit me.

The flop totally misses me and could have very easily hit any of the numerous opps. Due to this, I'm going to check and fold to any sizable bet. I want to save my chips for eithe ra better hand or a better situation.

One thing that we want to do as poker players is to not be results oriented. We want to make the best decision at a given point in time based on all available information. That is the only thing that we can control. Once a hand is mucked, the cards that come out after it are irrelevant and should not be something that I would want to care about.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Is this a good hand to go all in with, with such a short stack?

2)Protect against strong draws
Bluff an opponent off a good hand
To gain value on a very strong hand

3) I have passed the quiz!

Hi AAinmypockt!

It's probably best if I don't ask just how you ended up with just 5c, but yes, it's fine to go all in there. You don't have any "fold equity" as we call it. You're alwasys being called, so you have to hope you can win a race. It's pretty bad news when there's all that action behind you, as I'd expect to see some monster hands showing up here, like QQ+, so you'd have to make a set of trips to beat them. One good thing about all the action is that you'll win more (possibly quadrupling up) if you hit your miracle 2-outer.

At the end, it turns out you actually had the best hand pre-flop! These villains were pretty crazy to play for stacks with AQ and ATs. Unfortunately for you, the board contained lots of overcards for your pair, but quite often you'd be winning when two Ax hands go against each other, as there are just a few aces left in the deck as there are fives.

Better luck with the next stage of the promotion!

Cheers,
Arty

Hello,

Fantastic!

Your second Bankroll Builder bonus is on it's way to you, great job so far.

Watch this video that will help you on the cash game tables

There are three ways in which you can earn your next bonus.

1) Earn 10 VPPs AFTER receiving your 2nd bonus and you will automatically be credited with your 3rd bonus. Let us know if you hit that target
2) If you lose your 2nd bonus at the tables please post the hands where you lost the money with here in this thread. As soon as you post the losing hands we will advise on the next step.
3) If you make a first deposit at PokerStars you will automatically be awarded your remaining bonuses from the Bankroll Builder promotion.

Best of luck to you at the tables and we are here to help you should you have any questions.

This may look like a very poor play by me, but in the previous hand, I had won when he was bluffing. I thought that his bet was a bet to try and scare me off the pot, since that was how he was playing. I was over aggressive and got stuck with useless cards.

I had lost my other money in HU SNG games, but as you can see from my VPP's, that I had won a couple games. I do not know how to view the hand history of tournaments, so I don't have the game I lost my money on there. Sorry!

Hello,

Unfortunately I can't award you another bonus as tournaments do not count towards this promotion, this is a Cash Game promotion only.

Cheers,

It says my bonuses must be played at cash tables. So if I won money at cash tables, this would no longer be a bonus, but now my money which would mean I could use that where ever. I used my $4 bonuses at the cash tables, additional money was used on tourneys. Is this ok?
