Hi,

Did I miss value on a river K when I only see one combo that beats me?

My river brain play is stuck along the lines of... "Why bet I'll only be called if I'm beat"... so no value in betting...

The result is I have set over set OTF. The turn pairs the board so now boat over boat.

Is this bad not re-raising for the remaing chips on the river K?

Worried about an unlikely but possible >>KJ in the opponents range<<. OK I did bet to start with and got raised and thought I was making a hero call.

PS. No reads no hud not even a red label to say I've see this opponent open raise before.

Hi Forrest,

Preflop and flop are fine, although you could size the flop c-bet a bit higher since blind vs. blind you will get less respect.

I think it's really important to size the turn bet bigger though... a lot of his flop calling range that is for "value" will be top pairs and flush draws, and all those hands get there on the turn. Betting less than half the pot costs us (granted he may well raise those hands now but he'll raise the bigger bet too and we can get more money in/get closer to stacks). I would generally come with about 1.25 here, it looks like we're trying to "protect" or take it down, but not yet committed.

On the river I would put him the rest of the way in. If he's got KJ then nh, I think we'll get shown plenty of trip jacks and flushes here as well (he's less worried about us being full blind v blind).

Thanks Dave,

Thank you. That is so good and sorry I didn't learn from your last HA for me. On the same theme but then with just AA raising 3x the previous bet on a drawing board and not raising more.

Here I have a monster and just giving the 2:1 to call. I can be a bit of a villain on every play (or bluff?) from pre flop, to the turn and then be a scared cat on the river.

Not seeing something earlier. I'll stay in the micros.
