Hi Error544,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi Error544!

With 25s from the SB, I have 3 limpers in front of me. While it may look like I can get into this pot cheap since I've already got chips in the pot, the SB is actually the WORST position at the table and is where I want to be playing the least number of hands from. I have to act first on every street and get no information about the opp's hands, which is a HUGE disadvantage. Due to this, I only want to be playing premium hands from the SB. Since 25s is a really bad hand, I need to muck this preflop.

If I did see the flop (which I would not), when the opp bets 50 (5x the size of the pot), I absolutely need to muck here. I only have a gutshot straight draw (4 outs). From the rule of 4 and 2, each out is worth 2% equity per street, so my 4 outs are worth 8%. If I have to put over 8% into the pot, it's a negative play for me to call to try to draw to my straight. To call, I need to put in 24% (50/210), so if I call, I expect to LOSE chips each and every time... a play that I do not want to make. I want to make plays where I expect to GAIN chips everytime.

One thing that we do not want to do as poker players is to be results oriented. All that is in our control is to try to make the best decision at a given point in time.. after that, it's out of our control.
The best decisions for this hand are to muck preflop and if not there, to definitely muck on the flop. Yes, luck can happen, but I want to be making plays were I can expect to gain chips on average, not ones where I expect to lose chips on average.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi Error544

This is a pretty common situation. Preflop looks good. 1010 is strong enough to open with and your bet sizing is the standard 3bb. You get one caller in the blinds. This is usually the sign of a weak hand.

C-betting is good here. You missed the flop, but your opponent most likely missed it too. However, notice that the board is offering a flush draw. On wet boards I suggest betting about 70% of the pot rather than the standard 50%. The larger bet ensures that the villain is getting poor odds if they are chasing.

In this spot there is 13 in the pot. You bet 6. This is too small. I suggest making it about 9 or 10 cents here. Usually this will discourage weak hands from continuing and win you the pot. If you get raised then you have an easy fold. If you get called as in the actual hand. Then check-fold when the flush card comes on the turn unless your hand improves. It is very likely that your opponent now has a flush. Don't put more money in the pot unless you can beat his hand.

Good Luck and have fun at the tables!
