Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi befe01!

This promotion is ONLY for FULL RING cash games. The strategy for these is different from tournament strategy. Playing anything other than 1/2 cent FULL RING games once you receive a bonus will make you INELIGIBLE to earn any future bonuses in this promotion!

Without knowing what type of tourney this is, this can be played totally different too. Cash tourneys have different strategy from satellites and both types are totally different than a league game.

In a standard tourney (non-league, non-satellite), I'm going to make a standard open to 2.5BB+1BB for each limper, which is my standard for this blind level. However, a raise to 1000 is over 1/3 of my stack, which means that if I play the hand, I'm pot-committed. Since I'm pot-committed, I'm open-shoving JJ here.

If the hand is from a different type of format, then the way that I go about it could be totally different and a cash ring game strategy would be totally different from any of the tourney types.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

John (JWK24)

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hey there,

Sure no problem.

In the PokerStars client search for the following tabs.

1. Hold'em
2. No Limit
3. Micro
4. Hold'em Ring Game Filter
5. Set 'Max Players' to '9 to 10 (Full Ring)'
6. Set 'Stakes' to $0.01/$0.02

That's it! I've added an image as an illustration

Good luck at the tables!

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?
- to put a lot of pressure on the opponents
- to bluff people off decent hands
- to protect against strong draws

Hi befe01!

Playing middle pairs here like your 1010 can be tough. On one hand, it is a very strong starting hand, yet on the other, there are a ton of scary overcards that can come. Reads on the opponents would help tremendously here. Preflop with so many opponents, calling will usually be best. You want to flop a set, but as a backup plan, you may have an overpair to the board as happened here.

When the out of position villain leads out on the flop, you can either raise or call. Raising can be good here both for value and to hopefully get one of the villains to fold. Single pairs like yours play best against a single opponent. However, without a read, calling as you did is fine. Our biggest concern is that an overcard will come on the remainin streets.

On the turn, I would often fold. It seems likely that the btn has a Q and that you will be facing a new bet on the river. He has been passive just calling up to this point. Now he leads out. On the turn or river this is normally a good sign that they have a made hand.

When facing a preflop raise, it is fine to play small and medium pairs speculatively. This means we call preflop and normally give up the hand if we miss the flop. In this manner we keep our losses to a minimum. You will flop a set about once every 8 tries.

GL and have fun at the tables!
