Hi gmagella,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

And Here is my hand for you to analize

I've folded this one, but I found that interesting cause lot's of players played this hand agressively loose, I'm I right?

This other one, I've limp'd in to the flop played agreesively my strong hand and won a very big pot:
I noticed that I and my oponent misplayed. I was in danger cause of J and Q.. he could have made a bigger second pair, but he was only check-calling and that told me that he didn't had much...

Any advices would be great.

Hi gmagella!

With T9o in the BB, I get 3 limps, a min-raise and 2 calls. I'm going to call here and hope to see the flop for only 3 more chips. If the cards were not connected (ex: 79, 58, etc) then I'd muck.

I flop the bottom end of a gutshot draw and will check and hope to see the turn card for free. When the opps make a sizable bet, I'm going to muck and look for a better spot.
----------
With K6o from UTG+1, this is a very bad hand and due to this, I need to immediately muck it preflop. When playing from out of position, I want to only be playing premium cards and if everyone in front of me has folded, I want to either raise or fold.. and K6 is nowhere near strong enough to raise with.

If I was in the hand (which I would NOT be), I will make a standard 1/2 pot value bet on all three streets.. flop, turn and river. By keeping my bets standard I keep the opps guessing as to the cards that I'm playing. Opps that bet more or less based on their cards are basically turning their cards face-up to an opponent, which is something that I want to try to avoid.

Every hand can get lucky and win, but I want to be getting my chips in when I'm ahead in the hand, not when I'm most likely behind, like K6 is preflop.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Hi there JWK24.
Thanks for taking the time to analize my hands. I appreciate it.

Would you bare with me a little discussion about K6o?
I agree with you... it's a pretty bad hand pre-flop, but top 2 pairs are a strong hand after the frop, aren't? About my raise post flop, my intention was to protect my hand, as I "might" have the strongest hand at the moment, am I wrong?
From then I stuck with the plan 1/2 pot each street.
I forgot to mention that the table was too loose, and they were playing almost every hand... so..

Do you think I've play'd wrong? I'm talking about the thinking process, any advices will be appreciated!

Thanks again.

Hi gmagella!

On the flop, the pot-size bet that the opp makes actually DOES protect your hand. If they bet less, then you would need to raise to protect against any draws, but their bet was large enough to do it for you.

The thing that is wrong about the hand is being in it, in the first place. When out of position, I only want to be playing premium hands, not something that is at best marginal. With a K as one of my cards, I want the other card to be able to make a straight, flush or preferably both (if the other isn't another K). K6 cannot make any of these hands, so it needs to be mucked.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi gmagella! I'll take a look at this cash game hand.

You got a great result with this one, but your play was far from standard. In fact, you'd usually lose your whole stack by playing this way. Let's look at this hand more closely.
You have K7s on the button, but before you act, there is a limp, a raise to 4bb, a cold call and a re-raise to 15c. You should be folding here 100% of the time, because the raise and reraise in front of you indicate the villains have very strong hands. K7s is marginal at best. I'd usually only play this hand on the button if no one else has entered the pot and I'm trying to steal the blinds.
If you had a premium hand like AK or QQ+, then it would be fine to re-raise, but K7s is way behind hands like KK/AA and AK. As played, you raise it up again, but the size is not big enough, because everyone has a good price to call. The first raiser calls, and the cold-caller also does so, and then there's another raise (albeit a minraise) to 26c. This action is crazy, and I'm expecting to see hands like AA, KK, and QQ very often. You've now committed so much of your stack that it would be a mistake to fold for the additional 6c, so you call and see a flop.
On the flop you have top pair on KT5. Stacks are no so short and the pot so big that everyone is pot-committed. The first player goes all in, and another calls, and you also call. I am absolutely shocked to see the hands shown down. Pocket 6s is drawing to 2 outs, and J3o (a completely trashy hand) is basically drawing dead. The play of the villains makes no sense. It just looks like random gambling to me. While it's very profitable to play against players as bad as this, I'd prefer to stick with strong hands that are much more likely to have a chance to win. When there's a lot of money going in pre-flop, you'll usually be faced by monster hands. K7s is not a monster hand (it's barely profitable in the long run) so you should have been folding pre-flop. Try not to be results oriented. Most of the time, K7 will not be good in this spot and will usually miss the flop. You do not want to be pot-committed with a hand that doesn't flop very well.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Arty

Arty, I tottaly agree with you.. my inicial raise preflop was a mistake.. I've meant to fold but clicked the wrong button... the thing is.. I've got lucky, but at 1c/2c tables this kind of playing is what I'm seeing... that's why I've doubled the money you guys gave me... I now have $4.20

One question. I'll not be able to finish the cash game treining till sunday.. and I want too much to participate to the World Record Tournament... Can I?
I'm feeling kind of stuck with the course, as it's restricting me too much...

What are the remaining bonusses? They'll woth it?
