Hello miket.mt69,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi miket.mt69

Sorry for the delay in replying, seems to be a tech glitch with one of my tools here and I missed your response. We'll have the analysis done shortly and posted here

awesome thanks I am trying to past the beginners quiz having some trouble so I am going to try it again today hopefully I will have that complete soon as well. And thanks to everyone who has made this school possible. I am having so much fun. played in 4 open tournaments. started off only getting to the 1000th position. Last night I got to the 200th and the night before I got to the 300th.And that is in a matter of about a week. I can really see a difference in my playing as well.

Hi miket.mt69! I'll take a look at the hand in post #6.

First of all, I notice that there are several empty seats on this table. Short-handed play requires a looser style with more aggression. Since this promotion (and the PSO basic courses) is based on full ring games, I would generally find another table if the one you are on is breaking up, because you need to learn patience and discipline, and don't want to have to pay the blinds so often.

Even on a short-handed table, Q8o isn't strong enough to play. I would just fold this hand, even though the only action in front of you is a limp. As played, you call and see a flop of 872, which is a good one for you, as you made top pair. When all the villains check to you, making a bet is the best idea. You can get value from flush and straight draws, so a bet of close to the size of the pot is a good idea. There's one call, so you see the turn, which is an ace. This is a somewhat scary card. It might have improved villain's hand, but it will also scare him if he has a worse pair. If he has a flush/straight draw, then it doesn't change anything. I think betting is a good idea. You can bet, but if villain makes a decent raise, then you can fold knowing that you're beat. 140 into 240 is a good size. Villain calls again. The river is the 6s. This isn't too terrible. The flush draw missed, but if villain had an open-ended straight draw on the flop with T9, then he just made the nuts. Villain checks, but I'd be a little concerned he is going for the check-raise if he has a monster, because he knows you've bet the flop and turn so are likely to also bet the river. I'd actually check behind here. When considering making a value-bet, I always ask myself "Can worse hands call?" and here there really aren't many. Flush draws that missed aren't calling, and there are very few worse pairs than 8x with worse than a Q kicker. As played you bet, and villain calls. You drag the pot, and I have no idea what villain calls with. About the only hands you beat that might call here are J8, T8 and 98. Villain would have to be really bad to call with anything worse than that.

Hope this helps!
To get more tuition on cash game basics, I recommend going to live training sessions for the Wednesday and Saturday Games if you can. You'll even be able to play alongside other PSO members in the Homegame club and get instant feedback on the way you play your hands. Good luck!

Cheers,
Arty

Hi miket.mt69

Good job so far! The PSO Member Ticket is a ticket you are awarded once and that stays with you. It allows you entry into the League games, etc. I'll get back to you later today with news of your first bonus and your next steps

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!
