Hi sibaim01,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi sibaim01,

You must post your hand with the hand replayer as instructed in step one. Hand numbers are not accepted. When you have posted your hand, I will ask an hand analyser to review it for you.
Good luck at the tables!

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.
He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi sibaim01! I'll take a look at the hand in post #6.

You have J4 in the big blind, with many players limping. This is a trash hand, but here you can check your option and see a flop for free. In a multiway pot, you'll usually need to make a very strong hand like trips or a straight in order to beat multiple players, and that's unlikely to happen with this hand.
As played, you make top pair on JT5. Since there was no pre-flop raise, I would lead out with a bet of half pot here. You might not have the best hand, but if you do you can get value from worse hands and draws. As a side-effect of betting, you'll also narrow the field and find out a little about the strength of your opponents' hands. If someone raises your bet, for instance, you can be fairly sure you're losing, so can make a good fold. The flop gets checked around so it seems that no one has a jack.
The turn comes the king of hearts. This card means someone could now have a straight (with Q9), but it also means you no longer have top pair, so why did you bet? This makes no sense! When you had top pair, you checked, and now that it's more likely you don't have the best hand, you're putting money in the pot. You should be putting money in the pot when you think you have the best hand, not the worst!
Another problem with your bet is the size. 10 chips into 70 is too small. If you have a hand with value, then you should generally bet between half pot and full pot, to get value and to charge the draws. This bet of yours can easily be called by players with flush/straight draws, because they have the right price to do so. You're certainly getting called by anyone with a king.
As luck would have it, you spike another jack on the river. Since the flop was checked around, it's seems likely that you are the only player with trips. Now you can bet for value, expecting anyone with a king to call. Since your stack is less than the size of the pot, going all in for 110 makes sense. You drag the pot when a villain makes a very loose call with third pair. He shouldn't make that call, because one pair (and especially not third pair) is never good in a multiway limped pot. With players like that at the table, you can clearly get a lot of value, so next time you make top pair on the flop and there wasn't a raise pre-flop, make a proper value-bet.

Hope this helps!
Cheers,
Arty
