Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Good day! Here is a hand I would like reviewed:

I started with 38 big blinds on a play money table. With 6 players on the table, I open-raised the minimum at early position with K-9. I got four callers.

Flop came 9-7-8 with two spades. First to act (the caller from small blind) moves-in on me. One player folded. Then I called with another one left to act.

Would it be better if I had folded at that spot?

The move-in player could have 10-9, J-9, or Q-9 where he has a draw but I would be leading. And because the move-in player had a large stack (about 18,000), he could have 8-x or 7-x, or even a gutshot or a flush draw. Basically, I thought that he could have a wide range of hands, so my K-9 would be leading in most situations. (I didn't put him on a pocket pair because he would have reraised from the SB with any pocket pair, if we consider how many chips he has compared to the other players.)

And I didn't really mind the other yet to act because he could also have worse hands than I have, and I didn't mind him calling with a draw because if he did, my potential winnings would be bigger (with more risk to me, though)

With my short stack, is my call right? Would that be the right move to do in a tournament situation?

(The other player folded after I called. The move-in player had 8-4. Then the two of us split the pot when a Jack-high straight formed on the board.)

Hi,

Hand Analysis

Sitting on a 38bb stack I'd fold this hand from early position, there are several combos of Kx that may have us out kicked. Although we could maybe consider opening the action with this hand if it was suited.

Did you have any specific reads on the villain's tendencies from previously played hands? If we are read less, I might consider folding. But I like your thought process as to what range this villain could be betting with, it appears that they just want to close the action and put our stack to a decision with out seeing a turn and river card which is usually an indicator of weakness or a draw. If they had any legitimate hand we'd most likely see an optimal bet sizing amount to extract value from weaker hands. With reads there are certainly more hands that we are ahead of than behind given their course of action post flop. Nice pot coupled with a tough decision!

Hope this helps.

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.

2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.

3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Good luck and good decisions,
CannonLee

Here's for Step 2.

Three reasons for making a big bet:

- To protect your hand from strong draws

- To gain lots of value from your very big hands

- To exert pressure on other players

Good day CannonLee, here is a hand I want reviewed:

My question: Would moving all-in be the best move among the alternatives?

I figured out that the button raiser could have had a wider range of hands than AA-QQ because of his stack size and position. Also, regardless of what he had, I wouldn't want to be out of position against him (or anyone) on that hand. However, it was only my third hand that I played on that table.

What are your thoughts CannonLee?

Hi,
Hand Analysis

We have 40bb, which still leaves us enough room to 3bet the standard amount (3x the villains opening size [optional additional BB's for each limper]) and price out the two limpers. If we get re-raised all in call off our remaining stack as we are pot committed, or if called jam all in on all flops. This is hand is should be close to the top of our range SB vs. BTN and only three hands have us crushed AA KK QQ, versus AK AQ we would be near a coin flip situation.

Moving all in is certainly an option, if we had specific reads on the villain that they call additional 30bb raises, but we do not have much of a history with that villain, so I'd lean towards re-raising the standard amount to get action. Going all in will generate to much fold equity and will fold out a plausible semi weak isolation range of A8s+ KTs+ QTs+ 77+.

Hope this helps.
