Greetings,

Given that there are many Canadians on PSO, will there be support (satellites, etc., for the Montreal Festival. This is the equivalent of a Vegas tournament for us,

Thanks,
Elleb

Hi Ellen!

Since this is a Full Tilt event, the best place to ask about things is support@fulltiltpoker.com as they should be able to answer your questions.

Hi Ellen,

This is a Fulltilt live tournament
There are plenty of satellites on Fulltilt

I always like satties with good odds
There's 4 ways to qualify for the main event
1) Freeroll - Worst odds, you have 1:1,400, but it's free
2) Monster rebuy at $5.50 - 1:300, but with rebuy's and add-ons, it will probably be 1:120, still to big
3) $55 Hyper turbo with 300 chips - 1:29, not my type of game, more like a coin flip
4) which leaves me the $109 - 1:15, the only one that makes sense

So if you look at the satties to the $109 sat,

I don't like the hyper turbos at 300 chips, so I would eliminate the $26, $17 and $11
There's 2 rebuy's, a $1.10 (1:55) and the $5.50 (1:14) (the ratio includes rebuy's and add-ons)
Then there's the $22 regular turbo

Personally, I like the $22 turbo satellite, then the $5.50 rebuy

So...
I will be playing a few $5.50 rebuy's and 1 or 2 $22 regular turbo to get myself a $109 ticket. If they are soft, I might repeat

Hope this helps
Good Luck

So tonight I decided to play a satellite here at PokerStars

PokerStars Tournament #765068811, No Limit Hold'em
Super Satellite
Buy-In: $13.70/$1.30 USD
14 players
Total Prize Pool: $191.80 USD
Target Tournament #765068516 Buy-In: $100.00 USD
1 tickets to the target tournament

Tournament started 2013/07/25 19:15:00 ET

Dear Sandtrap777,

You finished the tournament in 1st place. You qualified to play in Tournament #765068516

I then decided to play another satellite, this time for 1,020 Fpp's

PokerStars Tournament #765054962, No Limit Hold'em
Super Satellite
Buy-In: 1020 FPP
17 players
Total Prize Pool: 17340 FPP
Target Tournament #765051963
5 tickets to the target tournament

Tournament started 2013/07/25 19:50:00 ET

Dear Sandtrap777,

You finished the tournament in 1st place.
This qualifies you for a seat in Tournament #765051963.

So my first try at a ticket to the Main event with a satellite ticket. 3 players get a ticket and I came in 4th. I bubbled for $100, so I can try 2 more times.

PokerStars Tournament #765051963, No Limit Hold'em
Super Satellite
Buy-In: $50.00/$5.00 USD
68 players
Total Prize Pool: $3400.00 USD
Target Tournament #764578099 Buy-In: $1100.00 USD
3 tickets to the target tournament

Tournament started 2013/07/25 20:00:00 ET

Dear Sandtrap777,

You finished the tournament in 4th place. A USD 100.00 award has been credited to your Real Money account.

The $100 satellite to the Main Event was cancelled due to not enough people, so still another shot at it

So for $15, I still have a chance to 2 x $50 satellites and 1 x $100 satellites for the Main Event. The satellites felt very soft.

Thanks everyone

I posted a Blog about how to better your odds at winning a ticket to the Main Event here:

http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/blo...poker-festival

Hope this helps.

It's funny how some people will say that a tight or nit player won't win a first place, that all they'll achieve is a min cash.

I just went over my 181 hands in that satellite vs 34 players (some well known regulars). I played 181 hands total, saw 21 flops, 19 turns and 16 rivers and won 14 of them.

At one point I was 26 out of 26 players with 9,780 chips from a 20,000 starting stack in the first 20 minutes. Then I turned on the patience switch and it was clear sailing afterwards...lol
