Hi leo9959,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi leo9959!

Did a player buy the blinds here, or is this a tourney hand? It looks weird, as the chips add up to a tourney's number of chips. If it is a tourney, please do NOT play any cash tourneys until you are done with this promotion or you will make yourself INELIGIBLE for all future bonuses in this promotion, as this promo is ONLY for FULL RING cash games.

With A9 in the hijack, there are 2 limps, then a shove and a call of the shove. My hand here is nowhere near strong enough to call a shove nor to raise again with, so I need to immediately muck it. Just because I have an ace or suited cards does not always mean that a hand should be played. If I had AA or possibly AKs, I could call, but no other ace should even be considered and even AKs is a stretch. The only hands that I would call this with easily are QQ, KK and AA.. nothing else.

While every hand can get lucky, to win consistently, I need to be putting my chips into the pot when I'm ahead and with multiple players already in the pot for an abnormally large amount, I need to muck anything marginal.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi leo9959

To be quite honest, you were exceedingly lucky with this hand. Great result though, just make sure you don't confuse a good result with good play.

With J8o and being in early position, we want to fold this hand 100% of the time. You just won't win often enough to make this profitable. More importantly, after you limped behind, then got raised, you should definately fold. Playing big pots out of position is tough. Folding is clearly the best option.

You flop bottom pair and call decent bets on every street. More times than not, if the villain barrels every street, they have something. I recommend trying to be a bit more patient. Wait for better starting hands in later positions, and only invest large parts of your stack post flop in spots where you have a strong hand, preferably sets or better. Sometimes top pair top kicker can be played strongly, but playing bottom pairs usually costs money.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Hi again leo9959!

There are several things to note with this hand. Firstly, you paid the big blind out of turn. Never do this! Paying 1bb seems cheap, but these small losses will add up fast to be a big drain on your bankroll. Check the Wait for Big Blind button and use the time to study your opponents.

As played, I suggest folding to the raise. Your kicker is so weak that if you flop an A, you may very well lose a big pot to a villain with a better kicker. Moreover, A7o does not allow for any flush or straight draws. Thus, the only good flop you can hope for is the one you got here with two 7s. This is great, but is a rare thing.

On the flop you now have a well concealed monster. Your goal should be to extract the maximum from the villain. He leads out with a bet of 8. Reraising as you did is fine, however, you bet too much. I think making it 18 or 20 would be pretty normal. By raising big, you often get value owned. This means all the hands you are beating will fold which results in your winning less than you could have. Whereas the only hands calling your big raise are the few beating you, resulting in your losing more than necessary. Here that would be a full house for example.

I am happy that you are winning big pots, but the best way to ensure the big pots keep coming your way to to stick to strong starting hands.

GL and have fun at the tables!
