Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi SuperSoniXP!

With 22 from UTG, I'm going to open-fold this here due to my table position. If I did play the hand, I would need to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, so I would need to raise to 6. Whenever I'm the first to get into a pot, I do NOT want to open-limp. This is a very weak play that is very exploitable by players that would have position on me and is normally done by players with weak hands.. and these weak hands should not call a raise by a player behind them.

If I saw the flop (which I would not), when I see that I flop a set on a very wet board, I need to make a bet here to get value for my hand and to protect it against the many draws. With 5 opps in the hand, I need to make a pot-sized bet of 12 here, as post-flop bets need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. I do not want to bet less than this, as I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me.
I now get a call, an abnormally small min-raise and a call. I'm going to re-raise here and the key is the sizing of it. I need to raise to between 3X the previous bet (36) and a pot-sized raise (60). With multiple opps, I tend to go to the upper end of this range, so I would normally raise to 60.... HOWEVER... this is basically 1/3 of my remaining stack, which means that I'd be pot-committed if I make this bet. With this being the case, I cannot fold if I make this bet and due to this, I need to shove!
Once again, I do not want to raise less, as I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me and if I give them the right odds and they win the hand... it's my own fault that I lose.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

John (JWK24)

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hey there, thanks for the starting bonus, i started to play and here is the answers to ur questions.

1) first this is a intresting handL

I had kk and reraised aftter a bet of 3X pot, then the flop had an ace and i checked it.
then got no bet on flop and went to the turn

my question is that if i should bet the flop in order to check my stand or just check?

2) why a player may want to make a big bet?

- put pressure on your opponent
- get more chips for your winning hand when u have the nuts
- protect your hand from potential draws of chasing cards and get u.

I will do the course now and study it and when i am ready i will make the test and let u know

Hi SuperSoniXP! I'll analyse the hand in post #10.

With KK in the small blind facing a raise, you definitely want to re-raise for value and to start building a big pot. You made a min-raise, which is not a good idea. Whenever you want to raise, you should usually make it at least three times the current bet-size, to get value and make it a mistake for worse hands to call. Since villain only needs to call 4c more, he's never folding to your re-raise, and you won't have narrowed his range effectively. (A bigger raise would usually only get called by pocket pairs and AK, but here villain could make a profitable call with hands like JTs, because you're giving him great pot odds).
The flop is pretty terrible for you, as AQ9 means you're losing to any ace, as well as QQ and 99, which are the kind of hands that would call your pre-flop 3-bet. Against aggressive players, it's best to bet this flop, as you're out of position. The main reason to bet in this specific situation is to prevent you being bluffed off the best hand, because if you check, then an aggressive player will bet whether he has an ace or not. Against more passive players, who won't bluff, I prefer checking, because it could mean you get value on the turn and river. That's basically what happens here. The flop goes check-check, so it seems unlikely villain has an ace. You can then bet the turn and get paid by Qx or 9x. The board runs out with low cards, so you can safely bet for value, but you could make your bets a little bigger. Villain's hand isn't shown, but I'd assume he had a pair of queens or nines. By checking the flop, you managed to get two streets of value, which is probably more than you would have got if you'd actually had the ace and fired on the flop. Nice hand.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Arty

Your second Bankroll Builder bonus is on it's way to you, great job so far.

Watch this video that will help you on the cash game tables

There are three ways in which you can earn your next bonus.

1) Earn 10 VPPs AFTER receiving your 2nd bonus and you will automatically be credited with your 3rd bonus. Let us know if you hit that target
2) If you lose your 2nd bonus at the tables please post the hands where you lost the money with here in this thread. As soon as you post the losing hands we will advise on the next step.
3) If you make a first deposit at PokerStars you will automatically be awarded your remaining bonuses from the Bankroll Builder promotion.

Best of luck to you at the tables and we are here to help you should you have any questions.

Hey there,

We still don't see 10 VPPs earned after your last bonus.

Please post the hand here where you lost the money using the hand replayer. Once you do this we can award you with your 3rd bonus.

Unfortunately we cannot award you any more bonuses unless you earn the 10 VPPs or post the losing hand here using the hand replayer.

Cheers,

Raiser
