You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi saddaum! I'll analyse the hand in post #4.

T8s is one of my favourite hands, because it makes well disguised straights, but that doesn't mean I always play it. In fact, I usually only use it for blind steals when I'm in the cutoff or on the button. Under the gun (UTG), it's best to fold this hand. When you play hands out of position, you'll have less information on the strength of your opponents' hands, and it's much harder to get paid off if you make a monster hand, because the players that act after you get to control the size of the pot. UTG, I would stick to a very tight range of TT+ and AK, because it's pretty much impossible to make money with any other hands in that seat. With any hand I enter the pot, I'll come in for a raise. Limping in, like you did, does not give you an immediate chance to win the pot. If your hand isn't good enough to raise first in, just fold.
As played, you limp, four players call, and the big blind makes a raise of close to pot-size. 70 chips is a big chunk of your stack, and you don't hold a hand that is worth that much, so folding is again appropriate. Instead you call and so does everyone else. The flop comes T98, which is a pretty good flop for you, as you have top and bottom pair. This is a hand you should play fast, because it is vulnerable to straight and flush draws. On this flop, it's even possible for someone to have flopped a straight. The small blind immediately leads out with an overbet, and the BB shoves all in. I think you have to call here. You could be behind, but when you play a hand like T8s, you can't fold when hit a flop like this, otherwise there's no point in playing it in the first place. You get all in and the cards go on their backs. As you noted, you got very unlucky. You were ahead on the flop with two pairs vs an OESD and middle pair, but the board made a straight, and villain 1 happened to hold a king to make the best hand.

Although you were very unlucky, this kind of thing will happen much more often with marginal hands like T8s than it would for hands like KQ or AJ. T8s hardly ever makes the nuts. It makes pairs, straights and flushes that are often beaten by bigger pairs, straights and flushes. For that reason, it's a hand you'd prefer to play small pots with in late position. Here you found yourself in a big pot in early position, and couldn't do anything about the action spiralling out of control. When you get on to the real money tables, you'll have to be much more careful with your hand selection, so I hope you've been studying the coursework.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
Arty

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!
