Hi blackace0606,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi blackace0606!

Preflop is fine, you got to see the flop for free with a random hand in the big blind. Had anyone raised you should fold thi hand 100% of the time. As played, neither of the other opponents have shown any strength since they just limped in. Limping in with big hands like KK and 1010 is a huge mistake - don't do the same yourself!

When you flop middle pair, you can make a thin value bet as you did. Or you can check and hope to improve your hand. Middle pair is ok and has some showdown value, but it is not that strong. When you get raised so much, you should fold 100% of the time. At least one of the opponents (and probably both) are going to have you beat. Be aware of spots where you probably have the second best hand. Don't risk your whole stack in these situations. It is better to fold and wait for a better spot.

Nice catch though

GL and have fun at the tables!

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Maybe if I had played this differently I could have won this hand? But with the ace and king on the board I didnt want to call the 98c after the river. Your feedback would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi blackace0606!

is a great starting hand. Raising as you did was perfect and your bet size looks great too. You are raising both for value and to protect your hand.

You get two callers which is not great. Big pairs play best against a single opponent. We are also out of position against both of them. The flop is bad for you. The A is a scare card. Ax hands make up a large part of the expected ranges we can put the villains on. Moreover, if they do not have an A, they will assume you have one which means it is less likely that they will put more money in the pot.

Check folding this flop would probably be your best line. Leading with a c-bet as you did may get any non-A hands to fold. Basically you are turning your hand into a bluff. Against a single opponent this may be ok, but it won't win enough to be profitable against two typically. Moreover, if you get raised, you will be forced to fold. Your hand has some showdown value as is. It is better to try to get to the river cheaply. Plus, you might improve with a Q along the way.

As played, The on the turn should stop all our action. Check-folding is the best line. Now there are two overcards to our QQ both of which are likely holdings for the villains. In addition, the third heart makes a flush possible. Now, even if a Q falls on the river giving you a set. You may only have second best hand losing to either a straight or a flush.

I'm glad you got away from the hand on the river. Good fold Learning not to overplay big pairs like this takes some practice.

GL and have fun at the tables!

I chose this hand as a similar situation has happened in several hands which is causing me losses. I know I was out of position but felt it was good enough to call with. With two spades after the flop I was hopeful of another spade! I wasn't prepared to call the amount that was called after the turn so folded after having put a fair amount in the pot. What could/should I have done or not done?

Cheers
